I'm having repeated problems with Firebug suddenly taking over my browser window and re-directing to the Firebug site.
I'm currently on Firefox 19 (but had this happen on previous versions of FF) Firebug 1.11.2
I had actually completely uninstalled Firebug at one point out of frustration at the problem, but ended up needing it again and so re-installed it, making sure I had the most current, non-beta version, at the time of install, and its STILL doing it several times a week.
I seriously do not appreciate ANYTHING taking over my browser and re-directing like that. Is there a setting I need to change or is this just how Firebug works (in which case I will be uninstalling it completely and finding something else to do the job).
Hi there I have a question with Firebug can you edit images with this software the resoun I ask my images on my site some of them need to be changed I need to upload them then place the new ones in the site

I guess you're talking about the first-run <https://getfirebug.com/firstrun>page. This page will only be opened when there's a new version of Firebug - so it should just be shown once in several weeks or months - or after installing Firebug. This page will be opened in a new background tab. If you don't want to see this page, you just have to go to about:config and set the preference extensions.firebug.showFirstRunPage to false.

I will make those changes, but its doing it even when the only "New Version" is a beta version, and its NOT opening in a background tab, its taking over the tab I'm working on.

I was relating my statement to the final version. If you use the beta channel, then you'll get updates much more often. I.e. the release notes page will be opened much more often.
NOT opening in a background tab, its taking over the tab I'm working on.
Then this is a bug. Unfortunately I can't reproduce that. So therefore we'd need your help to fix that. Which other extensions do you have installed? Which options do you have set inside the Firefox options in *Tabs*?
I have the same issue.
I was sending an email in a popup window, and instead of showing me a confirmation message after sending it, the firebug update page appeared.
