I've also noticed one random crash when no particular activity were

For those having trouble reproducing the problem, goto a page with
AdSense ads, and if it doesn't crash the first time refresh it. I
noticed it when working on www.AlCowlings.com for anyone needing a
page to test - it crashes firefox on refresh everytime if firebug is
enabled and the site only has one adsense ad on it.
As far as I know the biggest change in FF 2.0.0.7 is disabling
javascript being run via chrome:, for reference:
http://www.gnucitizen.org/blog/0day-quicktime-pwns-firefox and
http://www.mozilla.org/security/announce/2007/mfsa2007-28.html
In the second doc we have, "To protect Firefox users from this problem
we have now eliminated the ability to run arbitrary script from the
command-line."
Possible Firebug + AdSense triggers this type of code? Absolute shot
in the dark.
I hope someone can fix this soon, I need Firebug back!

I have downloaded the new Firebug beta (1.1.0b2) from the URL you
specified, and this seems to take care of the problem. Now when I
visit the site (AlCowlings.com) I can refresh to my hearts content,
with no Firefox crash.
The console shows about 20 javascript warnings, but handles this quite
gracefully.
Thanks for getting back so quickly, I'm quite happy to be able to use
Firebug on my sites again.
Cheers!

I tested the other sites posted in this thread, and all behave
normally with the new Firebug beta. All the sites also have AdSense
ads, so I'm pretty positive its Firebug 1.0.5 + Firefox 2.0.0.7 +
AdSense that triggers the crash.

The behaviour started only like 3 days ago after running smoothly for
weeks. So I'm still trying to figure out what has changed in my
configuration.
All I can say is that's is not a general problem of FF 2.0.0.7 +
Firebug 1.05 + Adsense since that combination is still working well on
my other PC.
The issue seems to present when I have 2+ tabs open where both pages
have AdSense ads.
For example, having both of these URLs open will crash firefox 2.0.0.7
for me every time:
http://www.topix.net/city/raleigh-nc
http://www.traffic.com/Raleigh-Durham-Traffic/Raleigh-Durham-Traffic-Reports.html?AWOPARTNER=TOPIX&PREVIEW=true
A good way to test is to go to the first one, and middle click the
traffic link to launch the second URL. It will start loading and then
hang Firefox, usually but not always showing the XP "serious error"
dialog.
I'm quite curious to know whats going on.

mattisse, that stack trace you posted is very helpful because it shows
the crash occurs in the JS engine's decompiler after an error. If we
can reproduce the problem with firebug 1.1, then set BreakOnAllErrors
we might be able to track down where the decompilation is called,
figure out what cases cause it to crash, and avoid decompilation in
those cases.

I just had one of those crashes. This was with Firefox 2.0.0.7 and
Firebug 1.1.0b2.
I now have Visual Studio set so it comes up and gives me an indication
after these crashes. This time I captured what it told me:
Unhandled exception at 0x00000000 in firefox.exe: 0xC0000005:
Access violation writing location 0x004b5f74.
It seems as if the crashes I see involve leaving (closing) a page but
then there is enough time after that before the crash that I have
usually forgotten the exact sequence when it happens. I am not really
sure, but I think the last site I had visited (other than possibly
Google search results or maybe Spamcop) was at
http://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewshortstory.asp?id=12359

After that when it crashes put "Firebug 1.1.0b2" (or what ever version

John.
I also saved the Talkback details as a text file which I can send you
if it is helpful.
Let me know what I should do.
Thanks,

Any of these sound like the one you have?

My TalkBack is http://talkback-public.mozilla.org/search/start.jsp?search=2&type=iid&id=36763641.
It appears to have crashed below js_DecompileCode().
I own VC++ 2003. I've never looked inside Firefox before but if you
want me to do any live debugging, let me know.

No joy with Firebug 1.1.0b3. I got the same crash; see
http://talkback-public.mozilla.org/search/start.jsp?search=2&type=iid&id=36841569.
I re-confirmed that Decompile Scripts for Source is unchecked.
