Element highlighting disappears after a second

For some reason element highlighting disappears a second or two after I hover over an element like a div or p tag. This happened randomly today, so I uninstalled and resintalled Firebug and it went away, but then after an hour it came back. I'm not sure what I'm doing to cause it to happen but I don't think it should happen at all or how to fix it.

Firefox 12.0 and Firebug 1.9.1

I noticed the highlighting disappears when the /html/body/div/etc hover pop-up appears.

It doesn't for me using FF 12.0 + FB 1.9.2 on Win7. This behavior might be caused by a specific setting or another extension.
To find the cause you should read the steps for what to do when there's a bug and provide a test case with steps to reproduce.

You're using a different version so you're not actually testing it under the same environment. I notice 1.9.1 is the latest on the Firebug site when I click Install and that's what comes up on Firefox add-ons... I suppose I could try 1.9.2 but that seems like beta and not ready for stable release yet.

1.9.2 is not beta. It's a normal bug fix release and is just waiting for it's approval through Mozilla.
Also as I pointed out in the other thread our releases are normally pretty stable even in alpha phase thanks to unit testing.

I can confirm to have same problem. Almost impossible to select code.

I can select code but because the section does not stay highlighted in the view it is difficult to easily see dimensions and padding and margin.

I've been playing with it and it seems to happen if I roll out of an invisible element and quickly into a non-invisible element. If I hover for a second over an empty space outside of a tag then hover over a visible tag, it stays highlighted. Very bizarre behavior.

Firefox just automatically upgraded Firebug to 1.9.2 and the issue still exists. If I hover over an invisible element (like one that has display: none) then hover over a visible element in any reasonable amount of time, the element highlights in the view then unhighlights.

Find div mainoutsideBlock then hover over the invisible div placeAdDropdown then hover over mainoutsideBlock. It will only stay highlighted if you move the mouse slowly.

Your link leads to an empty page but going directly to http://www.ksl.com/index.php I could reproduce the problem.
I created issue 5476 for that.
