Subject: High load/cpu usage under Linux
Hi!

The last weeks I have encountered a high load for Firefox 2.0.0.x
(Mozilla.org's binary distribution, installed under KUbuntu LTS). First
everything is OK. But after some time the machine gets slower and
slower. top is showing me a high cpu usage for the firefox process.
Even when I then load "about:" in every open tab (one to three open
tabs) and do nothing.

Today I have disabled the FireBug extension and surfed some typical
sites: a browser game (I disabled Firebug for the URL some days ago
without any result), a few weblogs, and reddit.com (Web 2.0 with some
Ajax). After some hours without a browser restart the cpu usage for
Firefox is low/normal.

Firebug 1.0b7 (and earlier versions)

Am I the only one with this experience?

Regards,
Stefan

PS: I'll try to disable all the other extensions and enable just
Firebug (1.0b8 then) later this day.

I have had a similar problem. It is really annoying because I have to
restart my computer every one hour.

It's not a bug in Firebug.

Google groups sucks a bit, that's why I haven't seen that my message
finally showed up here.

And there's a (German) thread in de.comm.software.mozilla.browser with
the subject "[FF 2.0.0.1] Was tut er gerade? Problemsuche hohe
CPU-Last".
