I would like to ask the experts a question regarding Power Supplies etc/Solar Panels.

Hello,
We are building a solar dish with a small concentrated PV cell that can provide enough power and be cheap enough to be useful in African Villages. We would like devices with which we can measure the sunlight hitting the dish, measure and record the power output over time. Do you have any suggestions about the measuring devices we would need and where we can procure them?

Thanks,

Dear Marilyn

We do not carry this type of equipment, I would check with
www.benmeadows.com they may have what you need.

Hello Marilyn,

Thank you for your interest in MadgeTech.  It sounds like you would
like to measure irradiance?  From what source would you like to record the
power from?  We manufacture and provide over 150 data logging products so
you have come to the right place.  The data loggers that you would need are
Current / Voltage recorder (s) and a differential voltage recorder if you
want to measure irradiance (sunlight).  Please try and provide a detail
answer so I can get back to you quickly.

I look forward to your reply.

Regards,
Andrew

Dear Marilyn,
Usually the PV or Inverters manufacturers have such systems dedicated to
this kind of application.
If you can't find them,  there are many ways to to do that application.

First you must find the relative sensors:
Pyranometer
Air velocity & Direction meter
Power, current, voltage etc transmitters  ( Gossen Muller & Weigert /
http://www.g-mw.de/english/messumformer.htm)
Surface Temperature sensors             (www.uteco.gr)
Angle transmitters
(http://www.asm-sensor.com/asm/product_detail.php?lang=en&det=pos_win)
etc

Then you must decide the system that measure & record:

Paperless recorder                      (JUMO  /
http://www3.jumo.de/pio/jumo/categories.do?uuid=ee4534160a090a052d219...
136c )
Small PLC + MX Sheet S/W                        (MITSUBISHI  /
http://www.mitsubishi-automation.com/ )

If you need any additional info, feel free to contact me
