This is yet again another example of Ray's films being badly handled
when transfered and distributed. Its bad enough that his films are
hard to find and not easily available and then the ones that are, are
in such bad shape that you cannot enjoy them instead you get fragments
of greatness peering in through the messy picture, horrible sound
quality and badly translated and missing subtitles. I seen moments of
greatness in this one. A powerful love story it would be if I wasnt
taken out of the film so much by these other concerns. A great ending
and one worth seeing if in decent shape. I hope ALL of his films
eventually and hopefully soon get remastered properly and maybe
through Criterion. I know they just released The Music Room but I
heard they do have copy rights to some of his other films too, of
which I'm not sure. I give Kapurush a 7/10 for what I was able to
enjoy and the potential it has on a good transfer which Im sure would
have bumped my rating up to a 8.
