Welcome to the Internet Film Club,
The Internet Film Club is a group made by IMDb users in 2006, who wanted to discuss important filmmakers and themes. We communicate through our Google group mailing list (see link below).
You may be a member of a film club, where you watch films together, either at someones home or at a cinema. Well this is a net version of that. We don't come together but we watch the same films for a month and discuss them on our mailing list.
We use a host-system. A host nominates 3 directors/themes (or more) for a chosen month and the rest of the members vote for which one will be picked. We do not assign a month to each member since some members might not care to be a host. So instead each member can apply for it (via email). A host will stay on the list until he/she asks to be removed from it or becomes inactive.
If an important director dies then we honor him/her with a special month and postpone the host list for one month.
