taking the place of Jimmy Flemion. Crook is scheduled to tour with Anthrax
early next year and hit the studio with Baz in the spring...

commitments in Scandinavia and Russia.
U.D.O. has replaced drummer Stefan Schwartzmann with the Swiss-based

PISSING RAZORS have been busy writing some new songs with new guitarist Cesar
Soto, and are now playing some shows throughout Texas to keep their chops up.
In December, the band and SKINLAB are being flown over to Hawaii for a couple
of shows...
PRIMAL FEAR are headlining the Century Millennium Festivals in Brazil. Support
bands include DC COOPER, PC 69 and local Brazilian acts SYMBOLS, TROPA DE
SHOCK and WIDOW. Dates include November 26th in Rio de Janeiro and the 27th in
Sao, Paulo. As well, a double headlining show has been scheduled with PRIMAL
FEAR and SINNER for December 18th in Tokyo, Japan at Club Citta Kawasaki. In
related news, work will begin on SINNER's new album, The End Of Sanctuary, on
December 1st at House Of Music Studios and will be produced by Mat Sinner. As
well, joining vocalist/bassist Mat Sinner on the album is HELLOWEEN drummer
Uli Kusch, ex-THUNDERHEAD guitarist Henny Wolter, guitarist Alex Beyroth and
keyboardist Frank R?ssler. "We expect an album which brings the THIN LIZZY
vision into the year 2000," Matt Sinner told BW&BK recently.
NEWS (November, 17th):
CELTIC FROST After re-issues which were termed as a "disappointment" by
founding Frost father Thomas Fischer (aka Thomas Gabriel Warrior), the band
has shacked up with Noise records to re-issue five classic slabs of Celtic
Frost, with many personal touches provided by the band. "We had 100 per cent
freedom and control over the re-issues, otherwise we wouldn't have done it,"
points out Fischer. "What you're getting now is exactly how the band wanted
the (reissues) to be. We have the full artwork. For example; To Mega-Therion
now has both H.R. Gieger paintings, not just one. The same with Into The
Pandemonium, it has two major art work paintings as well. We have original
photos of the band, because in the re-issues they're from the band archives,
so what you get is really luxury editions of the CD's. These are the
definitive Frost CD's. They're exactly what the band wanted." Already released
in Europe, and scheduled to be released in early winter in North America, the
five re-issues are Morbid Tales/Emperor's Return (1984/85), To Mega-Therion
(1985), Into The Pandemonium (1987), Vanity/Nemesis (1990), and their best of
Parched With Thirst Am I? And Dying (1992). Of notable omission is the
controversial glam fest known as Cold Lake, an album that Fischer says he
despises. "Because it's a piece of shit," he exclaims loudly. "Of course I
think so, otherwise it would be re-issued. It's an album I really don't listen
to. We all feel it doesn't reflect the true Celtic Frost, we feel it cannot by
far hold the quality. In short, we think it's one of the worst rock albums
ever released, to be quite honest. We all hate it with a passion and we never
listen to it, so why re-issue it? Why do that to the fans twice?" The band
broke up shortly after Parched With Thirst Am I?, leaving fans clamouring for
their return, ever their demise occurred. Fischer says that it's more than a
possibility that the band will reform, record, and possibly tour once more.
"We are, and have been for many years, close friends," admits Fischer "We see
each other on a regular basis and get along very well. We of course talk often
about playing together again, because we have decided last year that we are
going to attempt another album. We don't know when exactly, it's going to be
within one or two years. We will try another album, but we want to be
self-critical enough that we don't just want to re-hash old stuff. We don't
want to be a wheelchair band ruining the reputation of Celtic Frost. If we are
going to do an album in the year 2000 or 2001, it has to be modern, innovative
and adventurous just like the old Frost material was. Otherwise we don't see
any sense in that."
KISS - Happy New Year Canada! According to the official KISS website
www.kissonline.com, KISS' New Years Eve bash will be taking place on December
31st, 1999 at B.C. Place. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, November 13th at
9:30 AM Pacific Time. Only 18,000 tickets will be available and are priced as
follows: $79.93 (earlybird i.e. the first 1,993); $99.93 (regular) for
general admission; Designated seating is also available for $129.93. There is
no ticket limit either and tickets will of course be available through

The show will be recorded on both audio and video for release next year as
Alive IV. Full pyro will be done. A beer garden will be on site. A "concert
bowl" atmosphere will be set up to facilitate a dance floor, and a proper

included STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, CHRIS CORNELL and DAYS OF

winner will actually roadie at the Vancouver gig. In related news, there's
talk of a one hour documentary about Ace and Peter's Hollywood Rockwalk
induction coming out. It's said to feature all behind the scenes footage with
Ace and Peter (interviews, limo rides and what not). No release date has been
scheduled but it should be out in early 2000.
NEIL KERNON - HALFORD To Rock Like NEVERMORE? Producer extraordinaire Neil
Kernon (QUEENSRYCHE, DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB, NEVERMORE) is in Italy producing the
highly anticipated new Labyrinth album. Having just finished work with Italian
doom legends Death SS and Chicago murder metallists Macabre (on a concept
album documenting the life of Jeffey Dahmer), Kernon is also in the
negotiation stages with Rob Halford's management to work on the Priest
belter's new return to metal. Plans might call for Kernon to work in a
co-production capacity with long-time Priest producer Tom Allom. Kernon
explains. "I had worked on Rocka Rolla as a tape op, like an assistant or
second or whatever. And I was working with Tom Allom - he's an old friend of
mine from London - on Unleashed In The East. He needed somebody to mix the
album for him. We had done a whole bunch of work at the same studio. Tom
really wanted to start developing a relationship with the band. I was trying
to get back into full-time engineering again, so I was happy to do that, take
a little bit of a backseat. I wasn't really producing that much. But with the
new Halford stuff, they asked me to go out to Phoenix and work with Rob on
some demos, but the schedules conflicted with the Macabre album. But yes, my
manager is talking to John Baxter, Rob's management, right now." On his
surprise collaboration with Steve Sylvester and his highly creepy band Death
SS, Kernon had this to say. "The album's actually pretty high tech in a way.
The albums they had heard that I had done that they liked were Skrew's Shadow
Of Doubt and the latest Nevermore. I think they liked the combination, the
goth from the Nevermore stuff, and the fact that the Skrew was obviously heavy
industrial. So this one is a combination of all of the above. The songs are
really good. Actually I just finished up some dance and really, really, really
heavy industrial remixes of some songs. But this album is not as dark as the
last one. They're trying to reach a different audience now, just expand."
Kernon has also just been included in The Encyclopedia Of Record Producers, a
Billboard publication celebrating the top 500 producers of all time.

NEWS (November, 16th):
HELLOWEEN - Songwriting Frenzy! According to HELLOWEEN's official website
(http://www.helloween.org ),the band plan on going into the studio around
January for a September release. Currently EVERYONE is songwriting for
Helloween and next year they will try and play some festivals here and there
but won't go on a full tour until the album is out. As for the side projects,
ANDI DERIS' new solo album will probably be out in January. Michael Weikath is
currently demoing up ideas for the next Helloween album and will probably use
the leftovers as b-sides and/or his solo album. ROLAND GRAPOW, who just
finished a very successful tour, is writing songs for the next Helloween album
as well and wants to keep the same band for his solo project. At least singer
Mike Vescera. Markus Grosskopf is also writing and his SHOCKMACHINE project
will be out in North America early next year. Uli Kusch RAINBOW Tribute will
be released early next year in North America.
QUEENSRYCHE - Why2K? Currently supporting their latest travesty, Q2K,
QUEENSRYCHE were apparently booed at the end of their recent Vegas show,
possibly for not playing enough old (read: quality) stuff. Here's the band's

IRON MAIDEN Reliable net sources say that both IRON MAIDEN and MOTORHEAD are
confirmed for the next Dynamo Open Air in Eindhoven. As well, there are
rumours that Maiden will headline Donington next summer, the first time the
venue has been used since 1996, when KISS and OZZY OSBOURNE co-headlined.
Maiden conquered Donington last in 1988 in front of 102,000 fans!

keyboarder left MIND ODYSSEY on November, 13th. We will let you know more
details as soon as possible...
NEVERMORE and ARCH ENEMY have confirmed a North American tour that runs from
December 1st-18th. As for Nevermore's cover album Beyond the Black, it has
been shelved. The band will be concentrating on a new full-length album next
year and several songs have already been written. The band is planning to hit
the studio in the spring.
JUDAS PRIEST Variety has reported that Friends beauty Jennifer Aniston is
pondering a role in Metal God, the forthcoming flick about Ripper Owens
joining JUDAS PRIEST. She would be cast alongside Mark Walhberg in the story
of an office-supplies salesman who also plays in a Judas Priest cover band and
eventually winds up as a member of the heavy metal outfit. Stephen Herek, who
directed a very different kind of musical story in Mr. Holland's Opus, is
slated to direct Metal God. George Clooney will produce. Production is
scheduled to begin in the new year.
METALLICA According to MTV Online, METALLICA delivered four different videos
from S&M to MTV recently, leaving it up to the music network to decide which
one to play. Performance clips of Metallica included 'Hero Of The Day', 'Until
It Sleeps', 'Fuel', and 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' with the San Francisco
Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Michael Kamen). The band will then premiere
the video for one of two new songs on S&M (a song called 'No Leaf Clover') on
the November 22th edition of Total Request Live. Metallica also sent out to
radio the five track S&M Sampler featuring 'Fuel', 'For Whom The Bell Tolls',
'One', 'Hero Of The Day' and 'Bleeding Me'. We felt that there were just so
many different moods and elements and vibes to this whole thing that to sit
down and take one song would just not be fair to the whole project or
whatever," Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich stated recently. According to
Billboard online, Metallica will stream its entire album on the Internet for
several days before its scheduled release. Metallica and Elektra Records have
aligned with more than 300 Web sites, radio stations and retailers to provide
exclusive, song-by-song access to "S&M, Metallica With the San Francisco
Symphony Conducted by Michael Kamen," which is slated for traditional release
November 23rd. S&M will stream track-by-track around the clock beginning Nov.
19. Online listeners will not only be able to hear the songs first, but they
will be available on-demand - which means fans will be able to listen to a
track as many times as they want, whenever they want, during a seven-day
period. S&M is also being released on video in two formats. The first is the
full 136 minute performance. The second package features a bonus Limited
Edition Documentary featuring 35 minutes of behind the scenes footage and
interviews with Metallica, Michael Kamen and the Symphony. Metallica reprises
their classical concert on November 19th at Germany's Berlin Velodrome with
the Berlin Symphony. A second symphonic performance will occur at New York's
Madison Square Garden on November 23, with the Orchestra Of St. Luke's, the
day the album arrives in stores. That show will be broadcast on the web. On
December 27th in Miami, FA and 28th in Tampa, Metallica will headline shows at
the Orange Bowl and the Tropicana Dome with KID ROCK, CREED and SEVENDUST. On
