> 1:47am Retailers Spurn BMX XXX

A Reuters article published Tuesday reveals that three top U.S. retailers -
including Wal-Mart, Toys R Us and KB Toys - are refusing to carry a new video
game featuring nudity and crude sexual behavior. Publisher Acclaim
Entertainment is preparing for the Nov. 19 launch of BMX XXX, an M-rated game
that also features various racing bike stunts. Best Buy said it would sell a
censored version of the game for PS2. Acclaim chief executive Gregory
Fischbach told Reuters that he still believes Acclaim will get "substantially
full distribution" in the U.S. Fischbach also told Reuters there has been no
decision yet on changes to the Sony version, but that any changes would not
affect the game's release date.

> 1:57am Resident Evil Movie Sequel Planned

Variety reports that Paul Anderson is writing and will produce a second film
based on the Resident Evil game franchise. Starring Milla Jovovich, the
original movie grossed more than $140 million in theaters worldwide. The
sequel's production will start in the first half of 2003, Germany's Constantin
Film told Variety on Thursday. Anderson wrote, directed and produced the
original film; it's not decided if he'll direct the sequel.

> 9:34am Spotlight on the Web: Capcom's Steel Battalion

IMG1Capcom's newly launched *Steel Battalion site* (1) is very straightforward
in navigation and content. The main page has a concise, yet effective, summary
of the game's story and features. This is the only text about the game on the
entire site; the rest is dedicated to screenshots and mech art. Various
screenshots of both gameplay and cutscenes are used to show off the graphics,
as well as show different features such as the cockpit perspective, night
vision and combat. The mech art section has about a dozen diverse designs for
mechs in the game. There's no information on these designs, so it's not
certain if all of them are playable. The main page also has a picture of the
enormous controller included with the game, as well as a link to pre-order
Steel Battalion from Capcom's site. Navigation is very fast and easy; there's
never any question regarding what you're looking at and how to work your way
through it. Capcom has created a well-made product site, especially because
someone merely interested in Steel Battalion doesn't have to wade through
complicated menus and loads of text just to get an idea of what the game is
about.

> 9:45am Majesco Ships BloodRayne

Majesco on Tuesday announced that Terminal Reality's supernatural thriller,
BloodRayne, has shipped two weeks earlier than originally scheduled.
BloodRayne is now available throughout North America for Xbox, PS2 and
GameCube. Set in the late 1930s, BloodRayne introduces Agent BloodRayne. A
union of human and vampire, BloodRayne was raised and trained by a secret
government agency to hunt down and eliminate supernatural threats. Now she
must take on an occult faction of Nazis to prevent them from unleashing
creatures of terror in their quest for world domination.

Agent BloodRayne's repertoire includes extraordinary strength, impressive
leaping and acrobatic skills, aura vision, zoom vision and slow-motion
perception that enables her to weave in and out of bullets. By feeding off the
blood of other creatures, she's able to sustain her life force; however, her
undying thirst for blood compels her onward until she's driven into Blood
Rage, where she achieves a new set of unstoppable fighting combos and deadly
attacks.

Developed by Terminal Reality and driven by their new Infernal Engine,
BloodRayne delivers fast-paced combat from a third-person perspective. Agent
BloodRayne's mission will take her through 40 levels located in three worlds:
Louisiana, Argentina and Germany. A new control system allows her to target
multiple enemies with each hand simultaneously.

Universal Interactive on Tuesday announced that Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of
Cortex for PS2 is now part of Sony's "Greatest Hits" program. To date, the
game, which was co-published with Konami and developed by U.K.-based
Travellers's Tales, has sold more than 500,000 units in North America. The
re-release of Wrath of Cortex will feature reduced level load times and a new
suggested retail price of $19.99.

The Elemental Masks unleash their power in the form of tsunami waves,
volcanoes, giant balls of fire, cyclones and stampeding herds of animals.
Crash, with the help of his brainy kid sister, Coco, must thwart Cortex's
plans and restore order to the weather-beaten world. He travels by land, sea
and air in all-new vehicles including an atlasphere, a helipack, a mechanized

> 10:50am Wild Arms 3 Released

Sony Computer Entertainment America on Tuesday announced the release of Wild
Arms 3 for PS2. Developed by Media Vision in Japan, Wild Arms 3 is a
traditional role-playing game offering new characters, better graphics than
previous installments, an all-new battle system and anime cut scenes. Players
assume the roles of drifters traveling through Filgaia, and use each
character's special abilities to solve puzzles and unearth hidden treasures.
So-called "stroke-shading technology" renders the western setting, which is
filled with dungeons, mystical regions, desolate frontiers and cities erected
from eroded rock and scavenged wood.

Wild Arms 3 ties together the tales of four drifters - Virginia, Gallows, Jet
and Clive - who are searching to understand why the land of Filgaia changed
from a flourishing region to a barren wasteland. Each character possesses
unique attributes, including their favorite weapons and individual combat
skills, which aid in the journey. Players have the ability to read their
character's moods and emotions through a technique called
"expressive-communication", which utilizes font and imagery variations. The
enhanced battle system delivers improved features, including weapons varying
in strength, speed and range, and a turn-based battle system.

The ESRB has rated Wild Arms 3 "E" for Everyone.

> 10:14am Gary Oldman Lends Voice to Spearhead

Electronic Arts on Tuesday announced that theatre and film actor Gary Oldman
will lend his voice to Medal of Honor Allied Assault: Spearhead. Oldman will
provide the voiceover for the historical video segments and briefings that
appear between each mission in the World War II-themed game. The product is
currently under development by EALA and is scheduled for release on the PC
this November.

"My kids love playing video games, so that influenced my decision to work on
these games. It's just another way to express yourself as an actor," said
Oldman.

The Spearhead expansion will allow owners of Medal of Honor Allied Assault to
assume the role of Sergeant Jack Barnes and continue their fight from behind
enemy lines. The game will include nine new single-player levels and over 12
new multi-player levels. Players will also have the opportunity to compete as
British, American, German and Soviet troops in an enhanced multiplayer mode.
Additionally, players will have the ability to choose from an arsenal of
authentic Soviet and British weapons.
