I moved to a self-hosted Wordpress blog last week (same URL, my host
transferred with me), but my feed no longer works and when I tried to
trouble shoot it, both pinging and an attempt to resync gave me the
following message:

"There is an issue that must be addressed with your source feed for
the feed "Basia's Bookshelf'

and

"Error getting URL: 404 - Not found"

My site's working fine so I know the URL is working, I don't know how
to address the first part. I have a number of subscribers I don't
want to lose by starting from scratch and redoing my whole feed with a
new address.

When I attempted a ping using the feed address only, it was successful
but there was no update.

My feed address is http://feeds.feedburner.com/BasiasBooks

My URL is http://basiasbookshelf.com (works with or without the www)
I've had the same domain name for over a year now and never had an
issue with the feed until now.

I really appreciate any help you can give me!

What is the source feed URL you are using?

I clicked the most recent post in your feed, and the URL it tried to load was:

The actual URL appears to be:

It looks like you changed the permalink structure of your posts on your site.   The URL in the feed is the way blog post URLs are usually constructed on Wordpress blogs.

Check your settings in Wordpress under Settings -> Permalinks

My permalinks had been restructured (I moved from Wordpress.com
to .org and my host took care of the details I'd asked for). My
NetworkedBlogs feed that supplies my Facebook updates had been changed
to basiasbookshelf.com/feed/ and is working and I hadn't even thought
about this one. I updated my Original Feed address, which I assume
takes care of that? I tried pinging right away but got an error
message again.

I checked my feed under the Optimize tab and it's up to date though
now so I'm assuming that's good news?

I'd think updating your original feed URL should fix it.
