OK, based on that it sounds like two-factor auth is a red herring. Sorry
about that!
The first thing FeedDemon does before enabling sync is make sure that it
can connect to http://www.google.com/ (without a login - just a simple HTTP
request). If that fails, you'll see the connection error dialog you're
reporting. The dialog's caption and error message vary depending on the
type of failure, so knowing the exact caption and error message you're
seeing would be helpful (or simply attach a screen shot to your reply).
