I am trying to update my podcast feed - http://feeds.feedburner.com/stthomascrookespodcast
- but every time I try to ping the feed, Google returns a message
stating there is an 'error' and that my "ping is throttled" yet
completely fails to mention ANYWHERE what this means!!!!

What does this mean and what am I doing wrong?

I have the exact same problem and it's been about 24 hours solid that
it's been happening. I can't seem to ping my podcast. Any tips
appreciated.

Sorry to hear you're having problems! Pings are throttled when we
receive multiple pings for the same source feed in a short period of
time. But when this happens, that just means we got more than one
ping, so your feed should get updated.

We're looking into this issue, but haven't been able to reproduce this
problem yet, so we need your help... it would be extremely helpful if
you could answer the following questions:

1) What is your feed URI?
2) What is the channel link or feed URL you are trying to ping with?
3) Are you seeing any successful pings, or do you get the throttled
message every time you ping?
4) Are pinging using the Ping page at feedburner.google.com? Or are
you sending pings to us some other way? Are you pinging any other
services (e.g. Pingomatic, BlogSearch) at the same time?
5) When you navigate to the feed directly, does it not show your
updates? Or are you only not getting updates via e-mail? How long does
it take for your updates to show up?

I am having the same trouble and have been for 3 days. My URL is
http://www.ellendean.blogspot.com everytime I go to ping through
feedburner it comes up 'ping throttled please try again.' I wait and
then try again a few hours later, I get the same message. One or two
pings are getting through. I only know that because One is my own
subscription.
Many thanks Ellen Dean

Paul,

This is absolutely not true. We only Ping Feedburner once every two
days and we always get this message now. We only post once every two
days and feedburner never picks up the the new info if we do not ping
it.

You my friend have a bug in Feedburner.

Our URL is

http://oasislamedia.org/video_podcast/video_podcast.xml

We have been pinging daily for the past week and Feedburner will not
update (either via pinging or naturally). We keep getting the
throttling message. We ping using the Feedburner page (not via any
remote method).

Sorry for the confusion. Feedburner is updating the feed on its own,
but pinging isn't working. The core reason I'm pinging regularly is
that iTunes is not inheriting the podcast image properly, and I've put
hours into troubleshooting it and concluded that Feedburner must be
what's mixing it up, because everything is correct on the raw feed.
Pinging it is my only way to test things and update them instantly to
see if the test worked, and pinging isn't working.

the feeds aren't showing up but the emails are working. I'm going to
disable the email option and see if this works.

Paul:

Same problem here.

When I submit my Feedburner to iTunes Store as a video-podcast, I get
"there are no episodes in this Feed". However, going to Feedburner
under Optimize/View Feed, I see the enclosures..??

I need Feedburner DESPERATELY to work, so I can submit 2 video-
podcasts to iTunes (big project). I had the same problem last week, &
the 1st video-podcast seemed to finally work thru iTunes (didn't get
the "there are no episodes in this Feed"). However, I didn't get the
confirmation from Apple that I had submitted. It usually takes Apple
24 hrs (or less) to approve my video-podcast, but I haven't got a
confirmation. So, I'm not sure if Apple indeed, got my video-podcast
submission correctly!!

Please fix this ASAP.. A big project at NASA/JPL is depnedent on this
(funded to the tune of a few million dollars), we're launching a Mars
spacecraft in 2011. My JPL contact is waiting for my email tomorrow!!

Below are the detailed info you want:

Note that I'm using the RSS feed from Blogspot.com, not the Atom RSS
feed. Could THAT be the issue??

EVERY time I ping..

However, for the 1st Feed (LA Auto Show), I was able to successfully
submit to iTunes Store as video-podcast using Feedburner feed.
However, I never got a confirming email from iTunes Sotre..did it
really go thru & is iTunes Store REALLY reviwwing my video-podcast??

Under Optimize/View Feed, it shows enclosures for my video episodes!!

So....we all have posted here and as usual, the only reply is that we
all are having problems. Meanwhile, there is no way to know if our
blogs are actually being pinged at all. I have noticed a slight drop
in traffic. Could that be due to lack of a ping?
my blog is http://www.advicesisters.net/advicesistersblog.html and my
feed url is http://feeds2.feedburner.com/advicesistersblog. My feed

Thanks, Paul.

Both of my Feedburner feeds were successfully submitted just now to
iTunes Store video-podcast, for review.

It looks like the Feedburner feed problem as been fixed (from my end,
at least).

I am having the same problem and looks like it started on November
28th.

1) What is your feed URI?

http://feeds.feedburner.com/gamedibs
http://feeds.feedburner.com/gdwidget

2) What is the channel link or feed URL you are trying to ping with?

http://www.gamedibs.com/dibs/feed
http://www.gamedibs.com/dibs/category/newswidget/feed

3) Are you seeing any successful pings, or do you get the throttled
message every time you ping?

No success, everytime I get the throttle error

4) Are pinging using the Ping page at feedburner.google.com? Or are
you sending pings to us some other way? Are you pinging any other
services (e.g. Pingomatic, BlogSearch) at the same time?

Pinging the Ping page at feedburner.google.com and not pinging any
other service at the same time

5) When you navigate to the feed directly, does it not show your
updates? Or are you only not getting updates via e-mail? How long does
it take for your updates to show up?

Updates are showing up normally in my feed when I navigate directly.
The updates show up almost instantly.

Please help,

I was having this problem too using a ping link I had set up months
ago. Creating a brand new ping link through the feedburner interface
seemed to fix the problem. The difference between the two links is the
new one pings via my website's main url (the form asks for "website
hosting the source feed"), the old link pinged my feed's url directly
(now perma-throttled).

1) http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheJulioFromNyShow

2) http://juliofromny.libsyn.com/rss

3) I get the throttled message every time

4) I'm using the ping method shown at the troubleshoot tab of my
feedburner account.

5) Thus far it looks like the feed updates on the feedburner link but
it wouldn't update iTunes until I reset the feed to my original
libsyn
feed and then back to feedburner. After doing that iTunes updated
with
no problem .

When I first got this issue I realized that I went over my storage
limit on my libsyn account and immediately upgraded it, but
feedburner
has been repeating this message ever since no matter how many times I
ping it. This happened originally this past Sunday night.

Any and all assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just like the others, every time I try to ping, it says throttled.
Yet I haven't touched it in days. I suspect something is wrong with
the entire engine, otherwise why would so many users be affect?

I am glad someone from google is getting involved with this issue.
Feedburner was a great product before google became its master,
support was fantastic then. Feedburner is very important to me in how
I do business and is obviously important to others.

1) http://www.2012truth.com
2) http://feeds.feedburner.com/2012truthcom
3) No successful pings and message is the same every time.
4) Using ping page at feedburner.
5) When I go directly to my feed I see that it is appearing on the
show list but oddly there is no play now link for this podcast. All
my other podcasts have this play now link. Itunes does not list this
podcast. No one has downloaded it, only clicked or viewed it, as seen
on the stats page at feedburner.

Hi all,

With your help, we figured out the source of the problem; please see
this blog post:

http://feedburnerstatus.blogspot.com/2009/12/status-of-ping-is-throttled-errors.html

You should now be able to ping with either your channel link URL or
your feeds.feedburner.com feed URL without a problem. If you still get
the "ping is throttled" message every time, most likely you are not
pinging with one of these URLs. We will fix the messaging when that
occurs after the new year.

As of about half an hour ago - my ping is working. However, my widget
isn't receiving the pings, and a couple of my other sites aren't
receiving updates either. My Networked Blogs page doesn't recognize my
feed. This is my feed URL feeds.feedburner.com/EllenDean and hasn't
done for 30 days.
