I found a place where I can restore hidden apps, but I don't know how to hide them in the first

I'd like to hide the screen #s in the lower left/right corners. I'd like to be able to hide

Every time I try to delete a submenu, it goes away for a while, then reappears.

Where do hidden apps go? We need directions to get the most of this app!
