I recently reflashed my 770 (os2006 ver 3.2006.49-2)
then installed fbreader (ver 0.8.8d-1)
I now have the added enjoyment of the library not responding when I
attempt to access some of the series subunits of an author.
Any ideas?

what you mean 'not responding'? Could you please describe more exact.
Do you pressing the '+' sign in the library tree? Without any effect?
Or something else?
