I am trying to add some more books to the current library (there are
three there that I added some time ago). However, the dialog box shows
only 3 of the 10 .pdb files in my ebook directory (on the mmc card).

How do I get FBreader to pick up the other books I have
added.....frustrating
Is there a way to tell FBreader what file extensions to look for?

Also, I had upgraded FBreader my downloading the ninary (as the
repository doesn't seem to work ... nothing shows up)

I am running 0.7.4p on the 2006 (mistal) version of the OS.

Cheers,
Bernie

PDB extension means Palm DataBase, and there exists many formats of PDB
files. FBReader supports several of them, but not all. Looks like, only
3 of your 10 files are in FBReader-readable formats.

More exactly, you can check bytes 61-68 of your file to determine the
format. FBReader supports
Aportis Doc (bytes 61-68 = "TEXtREAd")
zTxt ("zTXTGPlm")
plucker ("DataPlkr")
modipocket ("BOOKMOBI")

Thanks Nikolay,

That explains all. The offending files had "RdPPrs" in that location of
the file ... whatever that is.

The Unix file command would usually be a simple way to check this, but
it does not seem to be on the Nokia 770. The Palm magic file for the
file command is at

http://opengrok.creo.hu/dragonfly/xref/src/contrib/file-4/magic/Magdir/palm

It indicates that "RdPPrs" is a PeanutPress PalmOS document.
