i don't know if the developers of fbreader read this or if there is any
chance, this can be implemented in a future version of fbreader, but
i'll try it anyway. here it goes:
with over 60 books in my booklist in fbreader, it would be cool to have
the ability to mark books read or unread. this would really increase
the usability of the booklist. maybe you can add a small icon before
the book title to indicate books, i've already read. or maybe you
display unread books in bold and read books in normal font (like
emails).
the ability to mark books read/unread manually would also be great.
thanks

How would you define a "read book"? :) Is it a book that was ever
opened?

it depends on how you choose to implement it.
for automatic marking:
- if you go the 'email way', you could mark it 'viewed/read' after a
preset timerange (say, 10 minutes)
- or you can mark it 'read' when the last (or last two or three (for
safety, since a lot of people jump to the end of the book to check the
conversion or something)) pages have been viewed
i think a combination of the two would be great -> change from bold
title to normal if viewed for at least 10 minutes and add an
'read/finished' icon if the last pages have been viewed.
manual marking:
the easiest way would be the manual marking by adding a 'read' icon to
the title using the ui (stylus menu). this would be more than
sufficient (at least in my opinion).
