Subject: OS2008 Offline Installation of FBReader fails
Hi,
I'm a new owner of an N800, and I successfully upgraded it to the
OS2008 release (2008SE_2.2007.50-2)on Friday. Then I wanted to install
FBReader.
I don't have WiFi at home and I'm off for Christmas, and I tried to do
the Offline Installation of FBReader as described at the bottom of
this page: http://www.fbreader.org/maemo/maemo4.php
I have no apparent problem downloading the three packages, and end up
with
- libbz2-1.0_1.0.3-1_armel.deb,
- libzlibrary_0.8.8c-1_armel.deb, and
- fbreader_0.8.8c-1_armel.deb

For the first file, the application manager says "Unable to install
libbz2-1.0. Incompatible application package."

For the second file, the application manager says "Unable to install
libzlibrary. Some application packages required for the installation
are missing." Details says: "Applications packages missing:
libbz2-1.0"

For the third file, the application manager says "Unable to install
fbreader. Some application packages required for the installation are
missing." Details says: "Applications packages missing: libbz2-1.0,
libzlibrary (=0.8.8c-1)"

I tried this for 0.8.8b on Saturday, and again for 0.8.8c today
(Sunday). No joy. Can anybody help?

Hi,

Please, download the libbz2 package again (the file name should be
libbz2-1.0_1.0.3-2_armel.deb from now). Previous version of this
package was downloaded from the maemo.org repository and is really not
installable offline. :(

Sorry for inconvenience and thank you very much for the report.

Hi Nikolay,
Thanks! That worked great! FBReader is now installed and working
great!
I wonder if this may be related to the problems that Christopher Hall
and Brad Haakenson mentioned in the comments section at
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/fbreader/
?
At any rate, it's now working wonderfully for me, and I thank you very
much for your help!
