Hi all,

I've got a new Touchbook from Always Innovating.  It's got FBReader pre-installed and works great with the keyboard connected.  FBReader is less useful when using the tablet by itself.  The tablet doesn't have any buttons I can use for scrolling or going to/from full-screen.

Anyone have any suggestions on using a touch only device with FBReader, or ideas on a better build for use with a touchscreen only device?

Cheers,

Kevin

That's weird... In their demos they show that you can flip pages with
your finger dragging from one lower corner toward the other. That
doesn't work? (I was wondering what reader they'd used for that
demo... )

Yes, that is a demo application - one compiled book.  Unfortunately it's not FBReader and there aren't any other books for that demo'd app.

Cheers,

Kevin

If you can bring up a virtual keyboard then all bound keys should be
available, and you can bind more in the settings. This is obviously
only appropriate for occasional tasks.

Tap scrolling is supposed to be supported on all platforms, see if
this is an option under the "scrolling" settings (it may be off by
default). As a last resort, if you bring up the "OS scrollbar"
version of the indicator, you can single tap in the scroll bar to
advance a page.

I tried setting tap scrolling (thanks) but unfortunately the touchbook
seems to have difficulty identifying a tap on the FBReader page.

I've followed a tip in the touchbook forums and made the scroll-bar
fatter - that's working well (although a little awkward near the end
of a book).

I can't tell what FBReader version is installed - it's missing the
"about" button. I may try building the latest and see if that
improves things.

Regards,

Kevin
