Compile Freebsd

I\m trying to compile FBreader on FreeBSD 8.0. However I seem to
have something misconfigured at my end.
Runing "make" generates
$make
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 1: Need an operator
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 3: Need an operator
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 5: Need an operator
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 6: Need an operator
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 7: Need an operator
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 9: Need an operator
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 10: Need an operator
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 11: Need an operator
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 13: Need an operator
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 14: warning: duplicate script for
target "ifeq" ignored
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 14: warning: duplicate script for
target """" ignored
"makefiles/platforms.mk", line 15: Need an operator
make: fatal errors encountered -- cannot continue
Any ideas? Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. How do I indicate that I want to use QT4
rather than GTK when using the ports version? Running "make config"
indicates that there is nothing to configure?
