Dear Jim and James,

I am trying to run the testing programme of Remote Analog IO Test on
W2 using FBDK.

I followed the steps the manual provided including open
W2KIAIO_TESTR.sys file and check the setting of DEV1.MGR_ID to make
sure that it is configured with the right ip address that assigned to
W2.

When come to next step which asked me to change Run->Wait to 4000 ms,
I could not find such menu allowing me to make the change in the
latest version of FBDK. And when I tried to launch the file, it
prompted an error saying "NO_SOCKET".

Could you please kindly tell me where can I find the menu to change
the wait time and what is the cause of such "NO_SOCKET" error message?

Thanks

The "timeout" setting is now under the "Preferences" button to the
left of the "Help" button on the menu bar.

If you want the setting to persist from one session to another you
should use the "Save" button in the Preferences dialog.

The "NO_SOCKET" message can occur if the timeout is not set long
enough for the remote unit to respond to the initial socket
establishment request, or if the IP address of the remote unit is not
properly set in the system configuration. It can also occur if the
runtime in the remote unit has not been started, or if its 61499
management socket has not been properly initialized for some reason.

For W2 specific details you will have to ask WRC.

Best regards,
Jim Christensen

Hi Dr James,

I have managed to find the dialog window which allows me to change the
timeout. But the problem still persists.
The detail instruction given by W2 document is as follows:

1. Power up W2 and log in.
2. Start RMT_DEV on W2, please remember that the command is case
sensitive.
java –r –w –classpath wrc.jar fb.rt.RMT_DEV –n WRCDEV1 –p
wrc;math;ita;
3. Load Function Block Editor through editorWRC.bat on your PC.
4. Open -> XML file, select W2KIAIO_TESTR.sys.
5. Check the setting of DEV1.MGR_ID, make sure that it is
configured with the right ip address that assigned to W2 (you can find
it from the snap.ini).
6. Change Run->Wait to 4000 ms.
7. Start application via Run->Launch.
8. When the W2KIAIO_TESTER interface pop-up, user can adjust
analog output value and read input value through HMI shown in Figure
1, here we assume that analog pin 0 is output pin and pin 8 is input
pin. User can connect these two pins together with one wire.

After I typed "java –r –w –classpath wrc.jar fb.rt.RMT_DEV –n WRCDEV1 –
p wrc;math;ita;" in SnapDev 1.5.0, it gave me a line saying: MGR_ID =
"192.168.1.145:61499". I noticed that in the XML code of this
application (in FBDK) there is one line: <Parameter Name="MGR_ID"
Value=""192.168.1.145:61499"" />. If run the application with
this line unchanged, it would give "NO_SOCKET" message. Then I tried
to remove the """ and run again but it was still not working.
Could you please kindly help me to figure out what is the problem?

Regards

Sorry, I don't have a W2 system for testing. It is not known whether
the current FBDK works with the W2 system or not. It may be that you
have to use a version of the FBDK supplied by WRC. You might try WRC
support: sup...@wrcakron.com.

Hi,

first of all how is the ip adress of the PC you are using?
Does it equal 192.168.1.*** ? If not you may change the IP adress of
the PC or either of the W2 to get both into the same subnet.

After changing the XML code inside FBDK you have parse it again, to
get it active and displayed at the device parameter. It would be
better if you change the IP at the displayed device. This changes also
the xml code.

Kind regards,
Christian

ps: Don't forget to configurate the chanel input if the system
configuration is feasible to run.

pps: If you get an unsupported type messages, than extend the loaded
packages with net and event.

Hi,

Are you connecting the PC and W2 directly with Ethernet Cable or through a switch?
Can you ping W2 from the PC? This should check connection and subnet settings.
