Yes, indeed, it HAS been quiet. I'll assume that will change in 2013
with the eventual (and finally!) release of a NEW Fates Warning record.

Anyhow, I didn't find much to like on the new (4th) OSI CD. It's not
BAD, but just boring. Nothing really held my interest and there wasn't
much in the way of a memorable melody or song to be found. I think

A/M concert review

Hi all,

I was fortunate enough to go to the show, so I thought I'd write a
review for those that couldn't make it.

As for me, I've been a Fates fan for only a few years, starting with
Inside Out - era stuff, and newer. I hadn't really heard a lot of the
older Arch material much until recently.

Yes, this is great news. Tied with PARALLELS for my favorite Fates Warning record of all time. This CD is just incredible. Love it and VASTLY under-rated. EVERY FW fan(atic) needs this in their collection. Booyah~!

New OSI

*Finally picked up the new OSI and I've been "cranking" it all week and my overall opinion is that... it's relatively boring and a bit monotonous. For me, it seems each OSI record is becoming a bit more stale than the last and I'm "losing faith" but with the NEW Fates due out ln 2012 (wishful thinking?), there's SOMETHING to look forward too...*

Also, just in case anyone was wondering...I got this note form Jim today:
"I saw someone somewhere had asked if we're going to do a, IO reunion
tour similar to the 2010 Parallels tour. Answer-

OSI Fire Make Thunder

So, what's everybody's opinion on this one?
For me its my favorite OSI album. I enjoy it from beginning to end. Great
production, great music. Favorite tracks are 4,5, and 6.

Someone recommended Symphony X's new one (Scott?). I was fortunate to catch
them & Iced Earth the other night. Great show.

I was pretty impressed by both singers. Allen was quite a showman. Iced
Earth's new singer? Man, the dude has some serious range. Great stuff,
although the lead guitarist was barely audible.

Hey Mark.
1. Yes, S-X... spot on!
2. Give Cynthesis a try... then move over to Zero Hour (in that order, haha!)
3. I love Portnoy, but honestly, I'm not missing him on here... and I grew up with DT. ;-)
4. We'll just have to agree to disagree! The music is good, but I rue the thinking of "Imagine what this would sound like with Ray singing!" The melodies and emotional impact of Rays voice just is much more relatable for me. With Arch, it's still painful whining and I'm imagining faeries and dragons. His voice still has that D&D/Fantasy style to it that I never really got into. Great guy though, and the music is cool. I guess NEVER have being a fan, this won't change anyone's mind?

Good to see things are percolating here in Fates land, whether it's Redemption or A/M... or soon, OSI!
For me, recent haul includes:
1. Symphony-X: Iconoclast (good, solid CD... really, typical S-X... if you liked the last few, you'll like this.)
2. Cynthesis: Imagine Zero Hour in their ambient phase with original singer, Eric Rosvold, back to fronting the band, remove most of the overt prog-metal elements, toss in great vocal melodies and you have a kick ass CD.

I'm truly shocked. Never expected this heavyness but I totally dig it.
Leaves me wondering how would it have sounded with Ray on vox. Would lke to
see some instrumentals of this songs as well. I'm not saying I dn't like

I feel the same exact way, RaY.
It's no surprise to anyone that I'm not an Arch fan, and that I have
no interest in Arch-era Fates either.
As I indicated, I think the music here sounds good - atleast the 5
minute snippet did. I didn't find much to enjoy with the vocals. If
you LIKED Arch before, you'll like this. If you didn't, I don't think
