Friends:
Cathryn's surgery went very well. She had a full mastectomy, but the good news is that her lymph nodes are clear, which means that even though the cancer recurred it has not spread to her lymphatic system. Cathryn is hopeful that this news means only minimal chemotherapy.
Cathryn is basically OK but she isn't out of the hospital yet. She overreacted to the anaesthetic and they will keep her today and over tonight for observation. I plan to pick her up tomorrow (Friday) and bring her here to stay until she feels up to being on her own.
I know that once she's here she'd love to hear from her friends, so feel free to call her here at my telephone number, 773-752-4063, after late afternoon tomorrow. Right now she is sleeping a lot surrounded by beeping machines.
I know that Cathryn is very appreciative of your encouragement, good wishes, and prayers. I'll send updates as I learn more.
