Beginner suggestions?

Hello,

I attended last night's UC Berkeley singing and as it was my first
time ever at a shape note singing, I had no idea what was going on. I
was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for how/where to get a
basic beginner breakdown of sacred harp singing. Any info would be
greatly appreciates. I'd love to sing with you all. Thanks!

Of course, the best place to start is to come to the Learner's Group.  We hold these in the same location (All Sant's Chapel - 2451 Ridge Rd in Berkeley) as the regular singing.  They start at 7pm (which is to say, a half hour before the regular singing) every 3rd Monday of the month.  This means the next one will be February 20th.

Hello all,

I was at the last UC Berkeley singing. It was my first time at a shape note singing and I really had no idea what was going on. I unfortunately missed this month's learners group and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how/where to learn the basics of shape note singing. I have no musical training and can't read music, so I'm starting from the very basics. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
