Hi everybody,

As most of you have heard multiple times now, the 8th Annual Golden Gate All Day singing is just around the corner! If you need a refresher, a flyer is attached.

There are many tasks that must be done on the day of the singing and singing school, and many gracious volunteers have already come forward to take on these tasks. However, for those of you still looking for a way to help out, there are a few more jobs that still need doing, which nobody has come forward to do yet:

-Food coordinator - we are still looking for somebody to organize the food at the potluck at the singing. This entails helping people bring in their dishes, then organizing them on a few tables before the meal begins. If you haven't done it before, there are a few seasoned experts who are willing to tutor you and help out the day of - and this is also frequently a job that is taken on by a small crew of people, so if you decide to be the food coordinator you can always recruit a few helpers.

-Socials - this is a big one. We are looking to have a social Saturday night, after the singing school. Since the singing school is in Berkeley, it would probably make the most sense to have this somewhere in the East Bay, though that's not a requirement. Basically, we need some sort of space - a living room, a yard, etc - where a few dozen singers can come and mingle. It's a great opportunity to meet some of the folks who have come from out of town, and I know those who travel a good ways always appreciate having a place to socialize with local singers. Food and drinks at socials are frequently potluck style, so you don't have to "host" an entire party or anything. Please get in touch with me ASAP if you think you might have a space that could work.

-Welcoming - we have a coordinator for welcoming, but we need a few people to sign up for shifts. You would basically sit at the registration table for an hour at the singing and help incoming singers get registered, make nametags, offer loaner books, etc. It's really a lot of fun - you get to be the first face that people see as they enter, and it's a great way to meet new people and put a friendly face onto the singing. If you are interested in helping out, email Dan Harper ( danrharper AT aol.com ).

Questions? Comments? Send 'em my way ( juliandamashek AT gmail.com ). I'm getting really excited about this upcoming singing, and I look forward to seeing most of you in the near future!

cheers,
Julian

Actually, all shifts at the registration table are now covered. Thank
you to everyone who signed up, and I will be in touch with you soon
about your responsibilities.

Cheers,
Dan
