AQUAPONICS COORDINATOR
As the Aquaponics Coordinator I will be around water and fish, which are the things I love the most. I am very thankful that I grew up here in Central Wisconsin next to the Wisconsin River because it has given me a great appreciation for nature. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a Bachelors of Science majoring in Water Resources and I concentrated mostly on water quality. I’m really glad to see the revival of the local foods initiative here in Stevens Point and I am determined to help provide clean, nutritious, and healthy food to this community! I am a firm believer that if we work together we can obtain a sustainable future. |

COMPOST COORDINATOR
I grew up near Medford, WI. I like hiking / biking outdoors, good musical acts, and TV shows about zombies. As a kid, I thought gardening was boring and preferred to play video games. However, I must have been inspired from watching my parents take the compost to the garden, or perhaps digging in the muck to grab worms for fishing bait left an impression. Several years ago, I had a roommate who was unbelievably wasteful with all the food he threw away. It inspired me to compost, and since then I’ve discovered that growing soil is really neat. |

MARKETING COORDINATOR
I am so excited to join the Farmshed team as its marketing coordinator and graphic designer! I grew up on a small Central Wisconsin farm outside of Rosholt and am currently studying art and art history at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. At UWSP, I am actively involved in facilitating various arts activities within our university community. I am eager to merge my experience and involvement in the arts with the shared goal of establishing Central Wisconsin as a renowned local food community through educational opportunities and community outreach programs. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, making, planning, reading, canning, knitting, baseball, vegan cookies, road trips and of course, art. |

PROJECT COORDINATOR
Hello world! My name is Megan Kathleen Hogfeldt and I hail from the hustling, bustling village of Poplar, WI. I am a student at UW-SP studying land use planning and conservation biology and the Co-president of the Sustainable Agriculture in Communities Society (SACS). Our goal is to educate students and community about sustainable living and agriculture. Being in SACS helped me recognize my passion for the local food system and the relationship it has with the people within the local community. Personally, I am a busy bee who does not like to stop moving! I think that having company around and eating a variety of food is always a good pass time. I like traveling to places with water because I grew up with Lake Superior in my back yard and it would always calm my spirit. |

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
I am a recent transplant to Stevens Point, where I’m pursuing my undergraduate degree in forestry and ecosystem restoration. I arrived here from Minneapolis by way of Ely, Minnesota, where I began my studies in natural resource management. In moving to the Central Sand Plain, I had a hunch there would be a strong local farming community including CSA opportunities, farmer’s markets, and organic farming. My hunch was confirmed! I am thrilled to have arrived in locavore’s paradise! Working with Farmshed is a great counterpart to my academic studies related to the ecology of the area. I’m excited to be connecting with people who are as passionate as I am about good food, healthy land, and strong community. As Volunteer Coordinator, I guess I’m in the lucky position of directing that passion into moving Farmshed’s mission forward. Ready for take-off? Here we go! |

Please join us in welcoming the newest members of the Farmshed team. Special thanks to the generocity of UWSP's Student Government Association whose commitment to sustainable initiatives made these positions possible. They are a motivated bunch ready to take back the central Wisconsin food system and return our people to the roots of their food. Joelle, Marcus, and myself are uber excited to have them on board.
With this comes another great announcement!
Starting Monday, May 21st, our building at 1220 Briggs Court will open daily at 9am. This will allow for lots of volunteer involvement and a constant community presence. It's taken us some time to get to this point but we are very excited by the progress. Melis will be in touch about our new volunteer sign-up system via United Way's Volunteers Rock website, a great community resource.
If you aren't signed up to learn of volunteer opportunities please sign up here. Melis will send notification of available projects bi-weekly and they will also be posted onsite! As to not bombard people with emails, they will only go to those who have specifically signed up via the website link, so please sign up today!
Thanks and I hope to see you out and about this weekend. Lots of fun things happening around the area. Get out and enjoy yourselves!
Layne, Joelle, and Marcus
This weekend and next...
May 5th!
May 12th!
