Folks,

Please be aware that there is now an official milestone for 6.1.0.

*milestone-6-1-0*
https://farcry.jira.com/svn/FC/tags/milestone-6-1-0

*6.1.0 maintenance branch (p610)*
https://farcry.jira.com/svn/FC/branches/p610

*./trunk*
Work for 6.2.0 will begin in ./trunk in due course.

Just a quick heads up really. More to follow. No distro at this time, but if you are comfortable with Subversion you can get early access.

Now I need to find time to merge this into my sites... need to find out a way to mark that as "maintenance".

If you are keen to update, please be aware there are a lot of schema
changes in this release (mainly to do with precision of fields and
indexation). But not to worry... get into the webtop, hit ADMIN >
DEVELOPER UTILITIES and go to the new Types/Rules Deployment Screen.
There is an option to make *ALL* changes at once. Set your database on
fire! :)

One caveat... selecting all changes and committing will make changes
that may result in data loss. For example, deleting columns missing
properties etc. Make a backup and go slowly if you have any schema
specific customisations.

Geoff,

Any timeline on incorporating an Oracle based DBGateway?

Daemon has no current plans to build an Oracle gateway until we have a paying client that needs one. However, we'd be happy to support any community efforts to write one. The new dbgateway structure will make building specific database support much easier than it use to be.

I was a bit afraid of that. I'm not sure we have the manpower to attempt this either. We might be stuck at 6.0.x for a while then...

Here's hoping you get more Oracle related business! ;)

some doco here

@Blair
Did you have something that outlined what is involved in creating a DB Gateway?

I messed around with it about a year ago with H2.
I started with mySQL and crashed an burned my way through - but ...

Farcry 6.(1?) has unit tests and there is whole lot just for the DB Gateway.
So you can confidently build your own Gateway and know you have covered everything before you put it to use in your project.

My H2 attempts stopped due to Railo incompatibility.
I should see if I can find my work and upgrade everything and see how far I can get now.
