Hi

We wold like to take take an advantage of the new "mobile devices"
webskins. https://farcry.jira.com/browse/FC-2615 I believe it is for
6.2 release. Just wondering if 6.2 is stable to use now ? If not when
should we expect it to be released?

Kind regards

LOL. I just came on here to post the exact same question.  Maybe get an answer once the dust from WebDU 2012 has settled :)

from what I have heard, I think 6.2 is in a state of flux at the moment - security is getting overhauled.

I am running 6.2 for a new project, still in dev, and beside a couple of errors after checking out from trunk (which were fixed quickly), it has been solid.

6.2.beta is pretty stable.  We have several sites going into production on it shortly.  It still needs a bit of testing in more environments, but if you are on windows/mssql you should be pretty good.  We've tidied up most IE related issues with the webtop changes, but we still have some general visual grit to sort out.

As for a release -- hopefully we can get onto this shortly after webdu 2012 next week.

Geoff,

I would like to test 6.2 beta on one of our 6.1.4 websites which is using Windows 2008 R2 and MSSQL R2. Is there any instructions / update process on how to upgrade?

Thanks
Tunç

Hi Tunc,

These are the steps I usually take to upgrade FarCry assuming there are not upgrade scripts to run.
  • Stop CF
  • Delete old Core folder
  • Copy in new Core folder
  • Restart CF
  • Sign into admin and deploy all COAPI changes
  • Clear /cache folder
  • Reinit the FarCry application
  • Test, both the new FarCry version and to ensure that any modifications made against the old version still work OK with new version
Chris.

You may want to add some backups in there
- core
- database

I second that.  I prefer to "rename" the core folder and backup the DB first.  That way you can rollback if it all goes poorly.

Hi Chris, AJ,

Thanks for reply. That is what I usually do. I also just wanted to know if any upgrade script needed to be run.

Thanks
Tunç
