Hello Friends,

As the Septembers hasten in—a bit too early for my taste, but who am I to complain?—I've found my schedule booked with all sorts of delightful activities I'd like to see you at. Won't you come out and play?

September 10-17, CUFF
Various Times, Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 North State St., (Chicago)
OK, so this isn't actually *my* event, but I was asked to sit on the jury, and based on tonight's film—Jennifer Kroot's very excellent It Came From Kuchar—you're going to want to come see every show too. $8 / $4 with SAIC ID.

5-10 pm (7 pm program), SPACE, 1245 Chicago Ave (Evanston)
This special benefit and live taping of the pilot season of talk.in, a radio show, podcast online by Women's Media Group, Chicago, discusses the role feminism plays in the global landscape. "Global Sisterhood: The New Feminism" features celebrated feminist scholar and humanitarian Peg Snyder, and focuses on how American women over these 40 years, have worked with, and learned from, women across the globe. Historian June Sochen looks at global activism as we hear from Snyder, Media Activist and Artist Anne Elizabeth Moore, and Jobi Peterson Cates, Director of Human Rights Watch, Chicago. $100 WITH DINNER / $10 PROGRAM ONLY.

1 pm, ON THE RADIO or ON YOUR MP3 PLAYER
I'll be a guest on Bob McChesney's Media Matters program, and I'll probably spend the whole time gushing over McChesney's 2004 book, The Problem of the Media, which remains one of my favorite books of all time. FREE IF YOU ALREADY OWN THE RADIO OR IPOD, BUT THE LATTER IS PRETTY EXPENSIVE IF YOU DON'T.

September 28-October 1: I'll be on a university lecture tour with New Girl Law and, hopefully, the Unlympics. I'm working with the wonderful folks at Aid & Abet, so contact Matt at mattd...@aidandabet.org for details on how your university or radical space can get in on the good times!

Tuesday, October 6: Unmarketable Reading
7 pm, Bluestockings, 172 Allen Street (New York)
I'll be reading from Unmarketable and playing the Unlympics documentary! It will be great! FREE.

Meanwhile . . .
The Unlympics video, A Message from the Unlympics Organizing Committee, is scheduled air as part of the October episode of Chicago Independent Television, on CAN TV Channel 19, on October 5 and October 19, at 11pm. I have a piece up at Truthout called The Invisible Fourth Pillar: Secrets of Chicago's Bid for the 2016 Olympic Games. (In related news, Truthout Has Unionized.) Any day now, I'll have a profile of Emily Jacir in The Progressive (Whoo! 100 years old this year!). And if you are still bored, you may enjoy to browse the online store, where several of my zines are temporarily back in print and the posters are going fast!

Here's hoping you're more prepared for Fall than I am,

aem
