On non-Rubinius VMs?

 Hello list,
I came across your language. As a Smalltalk-fan, I am delighted :-)
Together with Ruby semantics it IS practically "SmalltalkScript" ;-)
Wanted to ask: does it run on non-Rubinius Ruby environments? I would love
to use it at work, but they use the "normal" Ruby VM... (1.8.7)
If not, are there plans to "port" it. Or does the nature of the

 Hello everyone,
I just released Fancy v0.8.0.
The updated RubyGem is also online: [link]
As usual, install via:
$ rbx -S gem install fancy
Alternatively, you can always pull and use the latest version on the master
branch from GitHub.
A recent version of Rubinius is suggested (I usually just upgrade rbx from

Redis client library for Fancy

 Hi,
I wrote a simple Redis client library for
Fancy: [link]
It's still pretty basic, but useable.
As an example I added persistence using Redis to a simple link-shortener
app that uses sinatra.fy and redis.fy:
[link]
Christopher

I've a started pathogen compatible Vim plugin project for Fancy at
[link]
It's quite primitive at the moment, doesn't even do full syntax
highlighting. This is my first Vim plugin so it will be pretty slow
going but the more I fiddle with Fancy the happier with it I become.

 I just released v0.5.0
This release has mostly better documentation as well as a bunch of
performance improvements.
Some benchmarks that include lots of loops run up to 10x faster now.
A new language feature I've added is dynamic scoping (dynamic variables),
similar to Common Lisp or Clojure.
I've added an example in the examples/ directory. Also, all standard I/O

I finally got to create a new website for Fancy: [link]
I never really liked the old wordpress-based site and it was out of date
most of the time anyway.
This one's alot simpler to navigate and it has some code samples right on
the front page.
Cheers,
Christopher.

I briefly read over the actor components of rubinius and it seems very
erlang-inspired: every actor spawns in its own thread with its own
mailbox. There are also some facilities to register actors for global
discovery. I do not believe there's yet any way to communicate between
VM's.
The Io practice of actors via message passing does make more sense
