I need a replacement SS water hose for my C85.  It is the one that goes from the bottom of the filter/softener housing to the pump inlet.  It's 35 cm long.  I am not familiar with the BSP sizes but I think it's a 1/4",  It took a 13mm wrench to take it off.  Am I right about the size?  If not what might it be?

I was able to get one of these braided hoses at Jason Enterprises. Be careful not to over tighten as it can cause the nut to split. Good luck!

Paul,
How much did you pay for the hose from Jason Enterprises?  A couple of times I have inquired about items from them and their prices seem very high.  Hoses are not a manufacturer specific item.  They purchase them from outside suppliers.

These hoses come in sizes like pipe sizes related to the ID of the hose.  Being of European manufacture they use BSP (British Standard Pipe) rather than the US standard of IPS which strangely enough stands for International Pipe Size.

Various espresso machine parts suppliers list all sorts of these SS hoses by length and by pipe size expressed in fractional inches like 1/4", 3/8", 1/2".  What I am trying to figure out is what pipe size this particular Faema hose is. If I know that, I think there are lots of places I can get one.

I made up braided hoses from Home Depot and a few fittings.    Take the part that you are try to replace or the item you are trying to pipe up to, to a plumbing supply or big box center an see what they can do…….

Were you able to find BSP fittings at Home Depot?

Sam,

You get me thinking so I looked on eBay to see what I could find in the way of BSP fittings.  There are all kinds listed at reasonable prices.  Take a look at this.  They can supply straight or 90 degree fittings.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BSP-90-Deg-Swept-Hose-Fitting-Diesel-Petrol-Oil-Cooler-Tube-Pipe-Fuel-Filter-R6-/250956983756?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item3a6e33adcc

Since what I need is for city water pressure only, I don't even see the need for braided hose.

I'm still confused about how you got around the thread mismatch problem with the BSP thread size and cone angle on the Faema fittings and the similar but different on our US fittings. Did Home Depot actually have BSP fittings?

I found a hose that will work. A local distributor that sells and maintains espresso machines had a 1/8" 50 cm hose for $8. The one I needed was 35 cm but I figured I could curl an extra 4 or 5 inches of hose around inside the machine some place. Also, I had contacted the Faema people in CT. They had the correct hose and wanted $28 for it. I thought that was a little steep for a 14" long hose.
