Hello Andrew or others,

If I want to connect my game engine to the FG file, I must know the
structure and technical aspects of the FG file. Is there some
blueprint of the FG file so I could connect my game engine to it? I
heard of the SDK files and source code C++. Does that include the FG
file format technical document. Maybe it can be explained how it works
in the background of PKR Poker website. Users load there FG file
then...

Hope someone can answer this for me,

regards,
Maarten

Hi Maarten,

The FG file format is not useful without the FaceGen SDK, since the
numbers it contains are only coefficients for the statistical basis
modes (ie the delta morphs for the shape and texture). So the FG file
is basically a 'face coordinate'. The SDK then lets you change this
face coordinate in meaningful ways (ie the various face controls) and
construct a mesh of that face. So yes, the SDK comes with complete C++
source code and description of the FG file format.

Best wishes,
Andrew.

Hi to all,
just a quick question following what Andrew said .

What I need to do to open the mouth of a FaceGen model
in a Maya animation ? it is possible with the model
from the FaceGen without touching the model in Maya,
only do it rigging with The Face Machine software.
( I'm trying without success with the High ResNeutral plus
Animation Morphs model free download from your web).
So , I need to use SDK with complete C++ to do it ??
and what about to make blinking the eyes ?/.

Thanks in advance
all the best,Jhon.

Hi J,
To be specific, I believe you are talking about a mesh exported from
FaceGen Modeller in the Maya Ascii (.ma) format. You can download the
sample John face with our hires default mesh in the neutral shape with
a full set of blendshapes (as animation targets are called in Maya)
from the downloads section of our website. Since this is an actual
mesh, in the well-known .ma format, you should be able to use this
with many different programs and certainly do not require the FaceGen
SDK. I'm not a Maya expert so I can't give you detailed instructions
on how to make use of blendshapes in Maya, but perhaps someone else
reading this can help out with a step-by-step.
Andrew.

Hi Andrew,thanks for answer me.
I was trying to do the rigging with all the models from your
download page, without success but I can do this rigging with
Face Machine with another 3D face models.
So what I'm doing wrong ??, it is possible to create an animation
with talk simulation and blinking eyes with a FG model ??

Hire are two pictures of the FaceMachine rigging on Maya with FaceGen
model

FaceGen models don't contain rigging ... only blendshapes.

Best wishes,
