You may want to read these two papers:

and "Meta-Analysis of Face Recognition Algorithms", P. Jonathon
Phillips, Elaine M. Newton to learn more about standard methods.

I want a face database (with several poses of a subject) with feature
locations marked (around 40per image), have to use it for learning shape
information from face images. Would be very helpful if someone could provide
me with the same. I am working on face synthesis using the learned
relationship between training images and test image for a input pose.

What do you mean by "annotated"? You want facial feature points locations?
Facial expressions? Identity? Age? Illumination? Head pose?
Anyway, the link that Omid gave you is a good starting point.

you could easily find your ideal database on the below website but its upon
what application you want to apply such as expression in JAFFE or different
illumination and etc.

Mmm..., I think you have many choices.

You can google SPIDER, SPRTOOLS, SVMLIGHT, LIBSVM, etc. There must be
one suitable for you.

Does anybody know whether the Face and Gesture Recognition conference
will take place in 2010? It's already the end of October and I can't
find any information about a possible 2010 edition on the web. Maybe
it will be held as a workshop in some other conference?

Is there any new method for (2D)face feature extraction other than PCA, LDA,
ICA, HMM, Fisher, Wavelet and so on.
