Hello everyone,

Long time reprapper first time fabber.

You guys generate a fair amount of discussion in the reprap forum an I
wanted to get a couple of answers straight from the horses mouth.

The major sticking point for a lot of reprappers is the difficulty
getting the first set of parts, and while we hope this problem will
solve itself as more systems come online. I wanted to know if there
were any operational fabber in Ohio.I would like to see if a fabber
can print off in gypsum some or all of the parts necessary to assemble
a reprap system.   I am a polymer researcher for a metal working
supplier in my dayjob and I can reinforce the gypsum easily enough to
make it cost effective.

I also have a fair amount of casting experience so I would love to get
involved in any projects you guys might have going for investment
casting type operations.

Mike

Hate to reply to my own posts but after discussing it on the reprap
forum, it was suggested that if this works it might be possible to
have Fabbers serve as suppliers for our non-profit Reprap store. That
means the potential for a standing agreement that expands both
projects and generates a small income stream.

Email me at the gmail address if anyone is interested.

>From watching the forums, and from my experience trying to get my old

college design teams to collaborate, I think it would be great for
both groups to start working together.  I think it would add human
resources, accessibility, and credibility for both.  Plus, any media
coverage of either would have a good chance of mentioning both
projects.

I've watched both groups for several months, but haven't pulled myself
together to start building either as of yet.

Partnerships with other open source projects could prove useful as
well.  Has anyone looked into teaming up with OpenCASCADE (CAD)?
Controller software might be an interesting project for developers on
the Gumstix wiki, but that would entail changing hardware, or at least
adding a second hardware option.

Good idea Mike!
