CALL FOR PAPERS

Workshop on Kant and economic justice

The workshop aims to bring together scholars with an interest in the economic implications of Kant’s moral, political or legal philosophy as well as in the influence of Kant’s ideas on recent debates on economic justice. Papers may consider aspects of Kant’s theory of property, possession, ownership and acquisition in private right, Kantian foundations of global distributive justice, the difference between charity and justice, the influence of Kant’s ethics and Kant’s theory of right in contemporary discussions on global poverty or the role of Kant’s domestic and cosmopolitan conception of right in guiding institutional reform aiming to eradicate poverty. Both historical and analytical papers will be considered.

Submission guidelines
Papers should be no longer than 6000 words (excluding references and bibliography) and should be accompanied by an abstract of about 300 words. Please send an abstract by email to Lea Ypi (lea...@eui.eu) until 30 April 2008. Participants are asked to circulate the papers in advance, and in any case no later than 15th August 2008. Each paper will have 60 minutes allocated, 30 for presentation and 30 for discussion. The workshop conveners are Howard Williams and Lea Ypi.
