1 year Postdoctoral fellowship at the IHPST (Institut d'Histoire et de
Philosophie des Sciences et des Techniques, Paris) is available within the
french ANR funded project “The Interogative Model of
Inquiry”, from October 2012 to September 2013. We seek a PhD with AOS in
philosophical logic, formal epistemology or linguisitics and AOC in
philosophy of science to develop the research program of the "Interrogative
Model of Inquiry" project at the IHPST. Previous research experience in
fields such as logics of questions, epistemic logic, belief revision theory
and/or learning theory will be directly relevant for the position.
The IMI project seeks to develop the logical and linguistic modelling of
scientific inquiry as an interrogative process. The project's research
directions range from the modelling of the the social dimension of inquiry
to the semantics of questions, or to the philosophical assessment of the
merits of the interrogative model in philosophy of science (empirical and
formal sciences).
The successful candidate pursues research in logic, philosophy or
linguistics, has skills in logical modelling and interest in philosophy of
science and mathematics.
The post-doc will be expected to present his/her research at conferences
and seminars, and to publish in peer-reviewed journals. He/she will be
expected to run the IMI seminar on a regular basis, and to organize at
least one major international conference.
Applicants must have a doctorate in philosophy, logic, AI or linguistics.
Knowledge of French is not required, but fluency in English is. Salary
will range between € 2.000 and € 2.500 (net) per month.
