ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Salary is expected to be in the range

£38,546 to £43,020

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics examines the ethical issues raised by advances
in biological and medical research to promote public understanding and assist
policy makers. The Council is funded by The Nuffield Foundation, The Wellcome
Trust and the Medical Research Council.

The Assistant Director will work with the Director and two other Assistant
Directors in developing and supporting the work of the Council, assisting with
the preparation of its publications, organising its Working Parties and other
activities, and liaising on behalf of the Council with professional and
non-professional stakeholders with a wide range of interests.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in the fast-developing
area of bioethics.

Applicants will need to have a good understanding of science and a strong
academic background in a relevant discipline. They will need to have excellent
drafting and administrative skills; be highly motivated; be capable of managing
important projects with a high level of independence; and have the ability to
manage a small team of staff.

Closing date 31 October 2008
