(kernel.org seems to be stuck again - there's a copy at
http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/linux/patches/stuff/2.6.13-rc2-mm1.gz)
- Various stuff.
- I seem to have quite a bit of material here which is appropriate to
2.6.13:
- All the ppc64 patches
- Most of the PM/swsusp patches
- UML
- Not sure about smsc-ircc2-*?
- infiniband update (the VM changes are awkward, but are localised)
- rapidio is still on hold pending rework of rapidio-support-net-driver.patch
- all the VFS/namespace patches are on hold pending review
- all the DVB patches
- all the pcmcia patches
- all the nfs4 patches
- all the v4l patches
- other random patches
- Anything which you think needs to go into 2.6.13, please let me know.
- And I need to do another round of sending patches to subsystem
maintainers. Each time I do this only about one third of it sticks. Please
try harder.

FUSE?
I don't see any advantage of holding it off any more.
I feel the slightest of distrust towards the usefulness or quality of
FUSE. Anyway if the users aren't interested enough to complain about
inclusion, it's not really worth it for me to pursue.
So I'll just shut up now, and let nature take it's course.

used anymore.

v9fs is a network filesystem. And it's a network filesystem that's
not even very UNIX-y. It's not easy to extend with Linux specfic
bits, specially if you want to keep the compatibility with the
original. And all that compatibility and standard compliance just
adds extra layers, that are completely unnecessary for a _local_
userspace filesystem interface.
And even if it were to win on the userspace filesystem front in some
day, that day is very far away (if ever), and a little competition
will have a good effect on v9fs's development I believe.
I'm inclined to just give up on the permissions thing - if someone comes up
with something better then fine.
But I do wonder whether v9fs would be a better place to be concentrating
the development effort.

Well both are wrong... This should go in a header file. I guess mount

is close enough.

This (v4l-cx88-hue-offset-fix.patch) should be merged into 2.6.13
immediately -- It is a one-line fix that corrects a bug that causes
incorrect hue settings behavior in all cx88 chips. It is also in Chris
Wright's stable patch queue.

This (v4l-lgdt3302-read-status-fix.patch) is actually a dvb patch.
There are two v4l boards that use the lgdt3302 dvb frontend, and these
are the only known (supported) boards to use lgdt3302 at this time.
This patch should go to 2.6.13 whenever
(dvb-frontend-add-driver-for-lgdt3302.patch) does, as it corrects a
major bug.
Come to think of it, dvb-frontend-add-driver-for-lgdt3302.patch is
pretty much useless without the following patches:
v4l-add-dvb-support-for-dvico-fusionhdtv3-gold-q.patch
v4l-add-dvb-support-for-dvico-fusionhdtv3-gold-t.patch
v4l-lgdt3302-read-status-fix.patch
..so whenever the lgdt3302 stuff is going into 2.6.13, all four of these patches should go together.
Thank you!

Glad to hear that you think this is appropriate for 2.6.13. Let me
know if there are any code changes or doc updates that would be helpful.

These aren't driver-core updates, these are new drivers.
It seems I missed when this was sent for review to linus-kernel.
Some random nitpicks:
- SPEAKUP_DEFAULT shouldn't be asked if SPEAKUP=n
- "make namespacecheck" shows tons of needlessly global code
- the static variable special_handler is EXPORT_SYMBOL'ed
- #define MIN should be removed
- the file cvsversion.h only for keeping a CVS date is a bit
overkill
- spk_con_module.h is not exactly how we use header files in the kernel
- many of the #ifdef MODULE's point to things that could be done better
(especially the #include "mod_code.c"'s)
- the things in synthlist.h could be done less ugly
- speakupconf is a userspace script that belongs under Documentation/
- dtload.c is not kernel code, and should therefore not be in that
directory
- the code should follow Documentation/CodingStyle better
(no spaces between the braces and function arguments)
- building speakup_keyhelp.c modular even in a kernel that doesn't
support modules is silly
- #include <linux/...> belongs before #include <asm/...>

Yeah, sorry, I put them in my tree, in order for me to work on them.

Heh, it's no where ready for such review, it needs a lot of cleanup. I
did a lot of it about 12 months ago, but lost it somehow, don't want to
do that again...
I would not recommend reading the code just yet, unless you want to feel
ill...

Yes, that's just the start of what needs to be done. But I like it in
the -mm tree for now to at least give it wider testing to users who rely
on this hardware in order to have access to their machines. I'll be
slowly working on it over the next month or so to fix these issues and
the placement of where it hooks into the main kernel. Then I will
submit the driver for review by all of lkml. I will not send it to
Linus until everyone agrees that it is acceptable.

lucky me, i don't have this hardware ;-)
