I just want to recommend a new book I am reading at the moment. It's Pulp
Surrealism and it is by Robin Walz. Fascinating book about the pop culture
around and 'on' the French Surrealists. Plus a great chapter on my beloved
Fantomas. The Surrealists at the time had a passion for a piece of pulp
fiction by Marcel Allain. His Fantomas series is about a master criminal
who struck Paris during 1910. What he did was do gruesome killings, robbed
rich people and destroyed narrative logic within its stories. In other
words - can't get better than this.
Also fans of Walter Benjamin maybe interested in this book too. A good
chapter that deals with the Paris Arcades of the 19th Century.
