Subject: How to retrieve the file name from the deleted file's inode

Hi all,

I am finding some difficulties in finding the file name after
getting the delete file's inode.
I wanted to know about the methodology  used here to retrieve
the file name from the deleted file's inode

Actually, I don't think that's currently a feature, the ext3grep has a
focus that goes more the other way round, so mapping paths to inodes
has a multitude of possibilities, whilst mapping an inode to a path
isn't immediately possible (unless I overlooked something). But that
seems like an obvious candidate for improvement. Another one that has
already been identified is restoring a file by only giving the inode.

Sorry.

Is there a specific reason why you need to, perhaps there is another solution?

Best,
  Kåre

i am going through the tool ext3grep meanwhile i am trying this aswell.

The solution would be to write wrapper for debugfs utility in C , where we
can restore a file with the inode. But, we cant get the actuall name of the
file.

Thank you,
