Faster than light communication
Hello! Just watched this google presentation done by a software engineer that has done lots of reading on QM and QIT. He practically says that entanglement is akin to measurement and he presents a experiment (not undertaken yet and that involves some kind of quantum erasement using polarisation filters) that would prove faster than light... more »

was Relativity of Existence
...-------------- *"Provable depends on the theory. If the theory is unsound, what it proves might well be false.* *And if you trust the theory, then you know that "the theory is consistent" is true, yet the theory itself cannot prove it, so reality is larger that what you can prove in that theory.*... more »

Max Velmans' Reflexive Monism
I have just finished reading Understanding Consciousness by Max Velmans and below there are a couple of comments to the book. The book is similar to Jeffrey Gray's Consciousness: Creeping up on the Hard Problem in a sense that it takes phenomenal consciousness seriously. Let me give an example. Imagine that you watch yourself in... more »

Gravity and Vacuum.
Gravity and Vacuum. =. Einstein was mistaken using his Gravitation theory to the all Universe as a whole. The Gravitation theory doesn’t work in the Universe as a whole. The Gravitation theory is a local theory. Why? Because the detected material mass of the matter in the Universe ( the cosmological constant / the critical density)... more »

A Computable Universe: Understanding and Exploring Nature As Computation
[link] Overview This volume, with a foreword by Sir Roger Penrose, discusses the foundations of computation in relation to nature. It focuses on two main questions: What is computation? How does nature compute?... more »

Einstein and Socratus.
Einstein and Socratus. =. Einstein, you was mistaken using your Gravitation theory to the all Universe as a whole. The Gravitation theory doesn’t work in the Universe as a whole. Einstein and Formulas.
Einstein and Formulas. =. Einstein said, that the scientist does not think with formulas. But, dear Einstein, please see how nice to think with the help of these formulas: you can imagine the whole picture of Existence’s creation. =. § 1. Vacuum: T= 0K, E= ∞ , p = 0, t =∞ . § 2. Particles: C/D= pi=3,14, R/N=k, E/M=c^2, h=0, c=0, i^2=-1.... more »

Is the dream solution to the continuum hypothesis attainable?
Hi, Adding to the excellent paper that Joseph linked: [link] Is the dream solution to the continuum hypothesis attainable? Joel David Hamkins <[link]> (Submitted on 19 Mar 2012) The dream solution of the continuum hypothesis (CH) would be a... more »

A comment on Colin McGinn's article
A comment on a remark in Colin McGinn's article in The New Statesman <[link]> "The trouble with panpsychism is that there just isn't any evidence of the universal distribution of consciousness in the material world. Atoms don't act conscious; they act unconscious. And also, what precisely is... more »

Bases and other strange things
Hi Folks, Lizr's resent post got me thinking again about the concept of a basis and reading the wiki article brought up a question. [link] "In linear algebra <[link]>, a *basis* is a set of linearly independent... more »
