Subject: Thursday Afternoon Weekend Event's Update, August 20th, 2009
Good Afternoon, Folks!

I know, I know, you're gasping with horror... or you're wondering if
there has been a hiccup in the aether. Well, nope, your wrong on both
counts. After a hiatus, we're back. None to soon from what I can see
with a LOT of things having started ramping up - after all it's the
leaup to the Events Season and that is the season we ALL love so
much.

One of the things I don't love, I must admit, is the way that
Festivals and Gigs sell out in 3 monites or less. Seriously. Sure, you
can jump online and grab a ticket, but what if you can't at that time?
What if you have a Bigpond account and (as usual) it drops out for
most of those 3 minutes. Sure they're 'sorry for the inconvenience'...
but you then have NO chance of getting to see the bands you REALLY
want to see. Just a though - seeing as HOMEBAKE sold out in 2 minutes
this year.

Just a quick reminder to those who don't know - Mu-Meson have switched
their days for CULT SINEMA and PARA(NOID) POLITICS IN THE ARCHIVE.
CULT SINEMA is now on Tuesdays at THE ANNANDALE HOTEL, whilst the
conspiracy theprists can all congregate on a Monday now at THE MU-
MESON ARCHIVES (details are below).

Ah well...there are lots of things happening - and I'll be adding to
the list as we go along in the coming weeks. Suffice to say that this
is a weekend and as such a (usually) small list of what to go out and
do from tonight onwards. Like perhaps seeing DONNY DEBT and ARRADIUS'
photography exhibition at THE ELK in Kings Cross.

I will note that it's a welcome return to SHALLOW NATION this Friday
night at Gilligans (why did they ever leave that venue in the first
place?) - and even though I know that HELLFIRE is on at the same time,
I will be popping up there as well to say 'Welcome Back!' to the Bio-
hazard Green Crew. Speaking of HELLFIRE... shows galore and a
celebration of a few birthdays this month, including Master Tom,
Barbs, and Alex (they all know who they are) - not to mention a
Hellfire show by Miss Amateur Pole Dance 2009: DEBZILLAH DIOR! It's
seriously one of the two places to be this Friday night.

Once you've recovered... remember that SUNDAY MYSTERY THEATRE is on -
and acreening the 1922 classic NOSFERATU, a suitably dark way to end
the weekend.

OK, I think that's my lot. A short-ish intro this week. So, let's just
get on with the process of putting this list out :)

To visually follow Events In Sydney I direct you to  our Google
Calendar
( http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=eventsinsydney%40gmail.com&c...
) and the Calendar function in Yahoogroups, so those of you who get
this mailer, can log in ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Events_In_Sydney/cal
) and have a look at that as all events are listed there as well
(they're all the same events - just in differing formats). Also, this
list is now mirroring on Google Groups ( http://groups-beta.google.com/group/eventsinsydney
), so if you have a Google Account - keep an eye out for us there.

Just a reminder that Events In Sydney has a Facebook Group (http://
www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5591270255) and a presence on MySpace
( http://www.myspace.com/eventsinsydney ) so you can find us there as
well. Events get added as they're notified, and we post the weekly and
weekend events lists there as well.

That seems to be everything I have to rabbit on about, for the moment,
so let's get on with the listing, shall we?....Daily updates (when
there's something, which I find interesting, on) can normally be found
at the Events In Sydney LiveJournal site ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/eventsinsydney
). Easy to read and easily linked.

For those bands you might be interested in, that I haven't mentioned,
have a look at Faster Louder ( http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/index.php?city=1
) for that Independent What's On Listing (which we also supply details
to).

If you are only interested in the next month or so, look below. If you
want to pre-plan <gasp! shock! horror> then please feel free to do so.
I will ONLY list regular club nights for 2 months in advance (unless I
see an official email from them in advance - because things change so
much it's insane to try to do otherwise).
