Subject: Thursday Afternoon Weekend Events Update, February 12, 2009
Good Afternoon, Folks!

Just a quick update before the weekend hits us.

THE RUBY REVUE returns in time for Valentine's Day, so grab your
tickets as soon as you can. Also, the Official Launch for the 2009
SYDNEY GAY & LESBIAN MARDI GRAS is at midday on this Sunday at
Victoria Park (next to Sydney University). I hope to see you all there
(or at DIE MASCHINE the night before) :)

Money raised for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal has topped $40 Million,
and still rising. Various support agencies can still use your help,
though. All those things that you no longer wear, or use, can be put
to use by those who have nothing. Please give generously, and don't
forget to donate blood as well.

As far as donating cash is concerned, remember to ONLY donate through
the official channels and not to bogus collectors, or through bogus
emails. Only donate online if you know that theplace you are donating
to is genuine, and NEVER reply to unsolicited emails.

If you're wondering on how to donate, here's an idea I floated earlier
in the week... Pick an event you might not go to normally. Then,
donate the money you would have spent that night to the Victorian
Bushfire Appeal Fund ( https://www.redcross.org.au/Donations/onlineDonations.asp
). Either follow that link through the Red Cross site, or drop into
any National Australia Bank branch and ask to donate it.

Remember, pick an event and don't attend, donating the money instead
(don't worry, there'll be more events on later in the week/end).

As you know, we're deep into the Movie Awards Season, now, and SYDNEY
SCREENING is still organising attendances to Pre-Awards Oscar
Nominated Film Screenings at the moment. Keep an eye out for the
continuing schedule (they're announcing them on LiveJournal, and
Facebook). That way you get to see the films and have an idea if the
Academy is on the ball or not at the end of this month.

See? Just a very short intro this weekend. So, let's just get on with
the process of putting this list out :)

To visually follow Events In Sydney I direct you to our Google
Calendar (
http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=eventsinsydney%40gmail.com&c...
) and the Calendar function in Yahoogroups, so those of you who get
this post, can log in ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Events_In_Sydney/cal
) and have a look at that as all events are listed there as well
(they're all the same events - just in differing formats). Also, this
list is now mirroring on Google Groups ( http://groups-beta.google.com/group/eventsinsydney
), so if you have a Google Account - keep an eye out for us there.

Just a reminder that Events In Sydney has a Facebook Group (http://
www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5591270255) and a presence on MySpace
( http://www.myspace.com/eventsinsydney ) so you can find us there as
well. Events get added as they're notified, and we post the weekly and
weekend events lists there as well.

That seems to be everything I have to rabbit on about, for the moment,
so let's get on with the listing, shall we?....Daily updates (when
there's something, which I find interesting, on) can normally be found
at the Events In Sydney LiveJournal site ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/eventsinsydney
). Easy to read and easily linked.

For those bands you might be interested in, have a look at Faster
Louder ( http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/index.php?city=1 ) for that
Independent What's On Listing (which we also supply details to).

affected by closures, raids, organiser rebookings, weather, etc...

Keep an eye on the site-links for up-to-the-minute details.

If you are only interested in the next month or so, look below. If you
want to pre-plan <gasp! shock! horror> then please feel free to do so.
I will ONLY list regular club nights for 2 months in advance (unless I
see an official email from them in advance - because things change so
much it's insane to try to do otherwise).
