Good Morning, Folks!
Back from a week off - well a half-week anyway. Many events seen,
parades attended, movies watched, but apart from that I managed to get
some sleep and that is always a nice thing to attempt.
Big Congratulations to BERSERK on their triumphant return, last
weekend. I am very much looking forward to the next one which should
be in the next 3-4 months (I predict - May).
SHALLOW NATION has moved from Saturday nights to Friday night (their
first night of their move is *tonight* at Tailors-On-Central), so pop
in and revel in the Biohazard Greeness of their dark Industrial/
Electro heartbeat.
The Mardi Gras Season is launching today with the opening of the
QUEENS OF THE CROSS exhibition at The Kings Cross Library (for the
next 4 weeks) pop on in and have a look. It'll take some of you back
to the days when the Cross was a hotbed of sleazy burlesque... er...
yes and will show what part the Drag-Performance community played in
keeping the glitz and glam in (what was) Sydney's bohemian centre.
Also, watch next weekend for the Official Launch of the Mardi Gras
festival.
As you know, we're deep into the Movie Awards Season, now, and SYDNEY
SCREENING is organising attendances to Pre-Awards Oscar Nominated Film
Screenings at the moment. Keep an eye out for the continuing schedule
(they're announcing them on LiveJournal, and Facebook). That way you
get to see the films and have an idea if the Academy is on the ball or
not at the end of this month. Of course Monday is the BRITISH ACADEMY
(BAFTA) AWARDS, which is the last major Awards Show before the Oscars
on Feb 23.
See? Just a very short intro this weekend. So, let's just get on with
the process of putting this list out :)
To visually follow Events In Sydney I direct you to our Google
Calendar (
http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=eventsinsydney%40gmail.com&c...
) and the Calendar function in Yahoogroups, so those of you who get
this mailer, can log in ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Events_In_Sydney/cal
) and have a look at that as all events are listed there as well
(they're all the same events - just in differing formats). Also, this
list is now mirroring on Google Groups ( http://groups-beta.google.com/group/eventsinsydney
), so if you have a Google Account - keep an eye out for us there.
Just a reminder that Events In Sydney has a Facebook Group (http://
www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5591270255) and a presence on MySpace
( http://www.myspace.com/eventsinsydney ) so you can find us there as
well. Events get added as they're notified, and we post the weekly and
weekend events lists there as well.
That seems to be everything I have to rabbit on about, for the moment,
so let's get on with the listing, shall we?....Daily updates (when
there's something, which I find interesting, on) can normally be found
at the Events In Sydney LiveJournal site ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/eventsinsydney
). Easy to read and easily linked.
For those bands you might be interested in, have a look at Faster
Louder ( http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/index.php?city=1 ) for that
Independent What's On Listing (which we also supply details to).
