Subject: Thursday Afternoon Weekend Event's Update, September 3rd, 2009
Good Afternoon, Folks!

Another week has gone and we count down closer to the commencement of
the real Events Season. In saying that I notice that the second round
of SLEAZE BALL tickets are selling out fast, which means that only
final release will be available soon. For those who like thgeir sports
hot, I recommend grabbing your ticket/s as soon as you can.

Welcome to Spring although the last 2 weeks have been really too warm,
then again... warmer weather gives rise to a different set of
fashions, so all is NOT bad after all. - Especially if you have an air-
conditioner.

I mentioned last weekend that the Latin Film Festival is upon us, and
it's showing some excellent films indeed. I recommend that you (at the
very least) head on over to the MU-MESON ARCHIVES sometime this
weekend (and nexct weekend) where the Festival will be having a couple
of special screenings specifically tailored for the Mu-Meson set. As
far as Film Festivals are concerned, THE SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL
ANIMATION FESTIVAL has broken out on it's own, this year, and is
screening at UTS Ultimo all this weekend. For some of the best
professional animated shorts, and secret looks into the world of
gaming animation, you can't really go past this small Festival.

I should mention that for those who like some of the darker pursuits
of life, reknowned international performance-artist, SATOMI, hits
Sydney this weekend to conduct a very intimate performance soiree at
BAR MANACLE in Petersham this Friday. Having seen her perform myself,
I can only recommend this for those who truly like the restrictive
arts.

Of course, if your entertainment leanings are more toward Burlesque,
Flappers and Gangsters, perhaps the annual GANGSTER'S BALL will be
more to your liking, this year moving from the Gaelic to THE METRO
THEATRE in George Street. With a plethora of acts and a strictly
enforced 1920s-1940s/Vintage/Burlesque Dress-code, it should keep
jeans and T-Shirts right outside and therefore be one of the events of
the season. Of course if you like a more intimate event, perhaps THE
OCTOPUSES GARDEN PARTY will work for you (and it's a fund-raiser as
well).

There are of course the usual weekend events on and the details for
those are below.

OK, I think that's my lot. A short-ish intro this week. So, let's just
get on with the process of putting this list out :)

To visually follow Events In Sydney I direct you to  our Google
Calendar ( http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=eventsinsydney%40gmail.com&c...
) and the Calendar function in Yahoogroups, so those of you who get
this mailer, can log in ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Events_In_Sydney/cal
) and have a look at that as all events are listed there as well
(they're all the same events - just in differing formats). Also, this
list is now mirroring on Google Groups ( http://groups-beta.google.com/group/eventsinsydney
), so if you have a Google Account - keep an eye out for us there.

Just a reminder that Events In Sydney has a Facebook Group (http://
www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5591270255) and a presence on MySpace
( http://www.myspace.com/eventsinsydney ) so you can find us there as
well. Events get added as they're notified, and we post the weekly and
weekend events lists there as well.

That seems to be everything I have to rabbit on about, for the moment,
so let's get on with the listing, shall we?....Daily updates (when
there's something, which I find interesting, on) can normally be found
at the Events In Sydney LiveJournal site ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/eventsinsydney
). Easy to read and easily linked.

For those bands you might be interested in, that I haven't mentioned,
have a look at Faster Louder ( http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/index.php?city=1
) for that Independent What's On Listing (which we also supply details
to).
