Subject: Thursday Afternoon Weekend Event's Update, August 27th, 2009
Good Afternoon, Folks!

Another week and another set of things to do - which is kind of nice
seeing as Spring has decided to come along early this year. last 2
weeks have been really too worm, but then again... warmer weather
gives rise to a different set of fashions, so all is NOT bad at all. -
Especially if you have an air-conditioner.

Still... there are things on this weekend and I am looking forward to
a few of them. Tonight, for example, the AUSTRALIAN CENTRE FOR
PHOTOGRAPHY is launching their next exhibition and I am looking
forward to heading on up there to see the displayed goods on show.

FIlm festival season is upon us - and just like the Canadian Film
Festival, it's nice to see such a great limeup at THE RUSSIAN
RESSURECTION FILM FESTIVAL this week, the SOUTH AMERICAN LATIN FILM
FESTIVAL coming up in 2 weeks time. Speaking of film festivals, the
SYDNEY UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL is ramping up to be very cool in a
little over a week, and, for the first time, the SYDNEY INTERNATIONAL
ANIMATION FESTIVAL is forging out on it's own with tickets available
now, apeaking of tickets available now... SOUNDWAVE 1st release
tickets are on sale now... well WERE on sale now... They've mostly
gone - payday for me is Saturday, but I am still tossing up whether it
is worth my time and money to go all the way out to Eastern Creek and
have an event screw up as badly as the last one. Anyone have any
suggestions? or should we wait for the sideshows... which will sell
out in 11 seconds as well ;).

Still, if you're into her, P!NK is playing her last two shows in
Sydney this weekend, although some might want to go and see OUR LAST
ENEMY and KINDRED at CLUB BLINK, and don't forget that this weekend
also sees the very welcome return of BERSERK, which tips it's
stovepipe hat to the Steampunk set. I should also add that this is
also the opening weekend of THE COBWEB CLUB as well, so there may be a
little moving between venues from BERSERK to THE TAXI CLUB. Still,
we'll see.

OK, I think that's my lot. A short-ish intro this week. So, let's just
get on with the process of putting this list out :)

To visually follow Events In Sydney I direct you to  our Google
Calendar ( http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=eventsinsydney%40gmail.com&c...
) and the Calendar function in Yahoogroups, so those of you who get
this mailer, can log in ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Events_In_Sydney/cal
) and have a look at that as all events are listed there as well
(they're all the same events - just in differing formats). Also, this
list is now mirroring on Google Groups ( http://groups-beta.google.com/group/eventsinsydney
), so if you have a Google Account - keep an eye out for us there.

Just a reminder that Events In Sydney has a Facebook Group (http://
www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5591270255) and a presence on MySpace
( http://www.myspace.com/eventsinsydney ) so you can find us there as
well. Events get added as they're notified, and we post the weekly and
weekend events lists there as well.

That seems to be everything I have to rabbit on about, for the moment,
so let's get on with the listing, shall we?....Daily updates (when
there's something, which I find interesting, on) can normally be found
at the Events In Sydney LiveJournal site ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/eventsinsydney
). Easy to read and easily linked.

For those bands you might be interested in, that I haven't mentioned,
have a look at Faster Louder ( http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/index.php?city=1
) for that Independent What's On Listing (which we also supply details
to).
