Improving event:Selectors

FWIW, I have just seen this group only after posting to Behaviour group

1. I think, event:Selectors needs to be improved. It greatly slows down
the pages when there are more elements found in a page (eg, sign up
form).
2. I believe the slowness is due to Prototype. Is there any
better/fixed Prototype (as we have number of Behaviour versions)?
3. Wouldn't be better to adopt this

in event:Selectors?
