change display for current date selection

I find that I change the display options and then set a new date in
the calendar and then want to modify the options. Usually when I am
doing this, I have not set the -b or -e parameters, so I suppose the
resulting behavior is expected -- that is, to jump directly to today.
I thought the "j" key binding would take care of that, but only after
the fact. If I then make another modification, it still jumps back to
today. Is there a way around this already? I could just type in the
dates, but then it seems to render being able to click on the date
slightly less useful that it could be.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

When you select a date either by using the monthly calendar or 'j' and then press 'o' to set options, the date you selected should appear highlighted as the '-b' entry in the option entry area. Is this not happening for you?

That works only if you are not using (or have not already used) a
display shortcut. It would *probably* be OK to not use display
shortcuts, but then having to type out lots of parameters gets
frustrating. Perhaps the defaults for parameters could be set. If you
choose to look at making the display shortcuts more flexible, an
additional improvement would be a shortcut that would show an entire
month easily. I thought this might be possible with fuzzy date
parsing, but I have not found a good way to do that. I use this when
producing print outs of the previous month for accounting.

Ok, so adding '-b <selected date>' to the options corresponding to a display shortcut would solve the problem for you?

Maybe also a way to specify 'last month' as a display shortcut option?

Adding the '-b <selected date>' to the options would be one solution.
Is it possible, if there is no '-b' given, that what is selected in
the calendar is take first, then if nothing, it defaults to "Today"?
"Last month" might be a pretty neat shortcut. If you went to the
trouble, "last month" and "this month" might both be useful, but it
might not be worth the trouble, depending on what is involved.

I've just released 890. From the change log:
Added relative month parsing to the options for setting the display begin and end dates so that, e.g., '-b -1/1 -e 1' would include items from the previous month and
'-b 1 -e +1/1' items from the current month. When using a display shortcut that does not include a '-b' setting, one with the current selected date as the value will
automatically be added.
The first change should be convenient for folks who use display shortcuts to prepare reports for the previous month. Thanks to Severin for suggesting this.
