OK, I'll break the silence.  Has anyone removed/replaced the headliner in their '65-'66 Barracuda?  I have my original headliner loose around the edges and both front and rear glass out.  How do the rods remove?  Do you push up on them at one end?  I've tried and they sure seem to be tight in there.  Anybody done this?

Will 235/60R14's fit all the way around on my 64 Cuda? Thanks

They might rub the front of the rear fenderwells and rub inside rear fronts on lock to lock turns. I have 205's but will be going to Centerline 15's as soon as I get some rubbers for them.

Off topic Bob,

Can I come by and see first hand how heavy the rear glass is?

Brian,

It would be great to have you stop by and check my progress, but I have the glass put away safely in the loft.  It's towards the front, but I really don't want to take that thing down again until I'm ready to put it back in.  I would estimate it to be about 40 lbs, I carried it myself to where it is stored.  Let me know if you want to drop by and take a look at it, I'll be home a lot the next couple of weeks, its a low key Christmas for us, we're not going anywhere.

Years ago I had that size on my '66 Barracuda with sbp rallye wheels & they
fit all around without any driving clearance problems BUT they weren't
radials. The radial bulge could make the difference (in a bad way). I DID
need to use 2 jacks to remove/install the rear wheels in order to get them
out of the wheel wells. Thank God I never had a rear tire problem on the
road.
I'd recommend a smidgen smaller - I'm using 205s 60r14's on Cragars & they
look & perform fine.

Hey Bob
I had my headliner out when I painted the car. Here are a couple of
items that may help.
1. the rods are color coded as to where they fit. each rod is
different, the service manual shows the color code, but it is best to
mark them before you take em out.
2. the rods are just hooked in the slots on the side and run thru the
fabric of the headliner. You can bow them out.
3. the front and back of the fabric are captured on hooks in the body
that look like serrations punched in the sheet metal.
4. the fabric is glued at the sides, front and back. When installing
the headliner it needs to be stretched front to back and hooked. Now
here is the bind. I did my while the glass was out. Infinitely easier
than with glass in. I assume it can be done with the glass in but
because the hooks are under thr rubber lip of the gasket it is tough
to hook the fabric under the gasket.
5. I used spray on contact cement to glue mine in, and also glued a
insulation panel to the roof. Not sure this makes a difference as my
exhaust is so loud.....
6. Harden Musclecars sells a great repop headliner for $45.00

I have some pics on the wesite that may help.

Looks like that Harden headliner is $69.00 now if it is the perforated one. And the website that you referenced, I cant open in Firefox (looks like HTML only) . Is it an issue with Firefox or is something broken with the site, I would love to check it out.

Bob,  It has been my experience that if you push the front spars, at the top near the roof, toward the back and the rear spars toward the front they come out pretty easily. The middle ones push either way. When you put them back in it is the same but in reverse.

God Bless Curtis

Thanks Maz, Steve and others for the headliner installation feedback. I
finally got a chance to take a look at it. Got sick before Christmas and am
now catching up. I see how the bows come out by pushing them towards the
back or front of the car in the middle. It'll be a while before the new one
goes back in so I have archived the emails. I checked out your website
again too Maz, nice job on everything!
