Hi,
I would like to report a problem while using Eureqa. Simply, the
computer overheats while working for more than an hour with Eureqa.
While using a laptop, it overheats so much that keyboard becomes hot.
Without any intention to sound humorous, it also heats up the room I
am in.
I wouldn't like any damage to be done to my laptop due to overheating.
Is there any way to prevent this? Could this be one of the requests
for a newer Eureqa version ?

Its not Eureqa's fault. I am using Eureqa on four overclocked i7 2700k systems running in parallel. Monitoring both the temperature and the cpu usage I see that Eureqa is doing what it is supposed to and that is using the resources that it needs to carry out the calculations. If you only have a laptop to run Eureqa you might need to buy a cooling pad for the laptop. You could perhaps underclock your laptop to have it run cooler but you will lose performance.

I have also tested Eureqa on IMac desktop, and it still heats up the same way as running on linux.

Here's a couple other options to reduce the heat:
1. In the options you can limit the number of CPU cores to use. So if you have a 2-core system, you could set it to use only 1 core. This will cut the performance in half, and might reduce the heat.
2. The most effectively would be to use the cloud option. Then all the computation is done in the cloud rather than your local computer and you should have zero heat production as your computer will be essentially idle.

This is nothing to do with the S/w. per se. Number crunching in any
form requires constant CPU work an this will generate heat. If you
laptop is not dissipating this heat, then you need to consider a
laptop cooling base.
My laptop numbercrunches 24/7 and gives no overheat.
