Hi,
In additions to users and groups, does ES have/support the concept of
roles? (senior management, managers, staff etc.). If so, which table
holds this information in ES?

There are not roles in that sense. The only roles are group
coordinators and system administrators, but those roles are for
managing groups and the system, respectively.
